{ Snip } I used to ship a lot of spuds to Chicago. Illinois has become a basket case. My receiver is still in business, but he stated the State keeps making it harder and harder to stay in business. Sounds just like South Australia or Queensland or New South Wales or Victoria or ..... < insert_state_name_here>.

I don't understand why Blue States insist on committing suicide. Is the surname of Lemming popular there? Illinois is a lot like that. Took a new route southward last summer through Cairo. Used to be a thriving riverboat town. Now looks like someone dropped a 5 megaton Democrat bomb on them. Immediately across the bridge in Kentucky, green fields, clean properties and prosperity. I used to ship a lot of spuds to Chicago. Illinois has become a basket case. My receiver is still in business, but he stated the State keeps making it harder and harder to stay in business. I know this is a very pessimistic thing to say but I believe the blue states (ruled by the large population centers) are hopelessly on the trajectory for full blown, maternalistic European Socialism. I see no evidence in the 30 and 40 year olds of a desire to swing back to rugged individualism. Two Americas are happening before our eyes and don’t think that bodes well.

I agree. The Electoral College becomes more important every day. Also, 2 Senators from each state.

The large urban centers are almost there already. I think that the intent was to use the Death [Estate] Tax to close down all small businesses and farms outside conurbations and turn everywhere into an Agenda 21 globalists dream of multinationals and urban centers with factory farms. No cash everyone using debit/credit cards, power through smart meters, continual tracking using cellphones so your entire existence could be remotely shut down by 'authority' at any time. "15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is....."
As if a 'mark' could be true ......

As if a 'mark' could be true ......In reality, the "Death Tax" created great opportunities. Since the amount now of $11 million is tax free, the price of hard asests has exploded. That has essentially made beginning a farm impossible. I bought land BECAUSE of the estate tax. Now, folks inherit the land and keep it. I send $10's of thousands to folks who don't even live in ND. They live in urban centers. This is pillaging rural areas as the money doesn't return. Carnegie recognized the need for the tax. He thought it should be 100% so ideas and hard work would be rewarded. The only reason to eliminate it is to assure a peasant class of people.

I agree. The Electoral College becomes more important every day. Also, 2 Senators from each state. We have six senators for each of our states and a couple from each of the territories elected in a proportional representation system. I'm tempted to say that it is not working well but we get the parliament we deserve. Neither major party (Liberal = Republicans, Labor = Democrats) has a majority and I cannot either having a majority in the foreseeable future. There is so much disenchantment with the majors that we have a growing number of minor parties filling the seats. As a result, getting legislation passed in the Senate is a nightmare of negotiation and concession. Senate Composition

I agree. The Electoral College becomes more important every day. Also, 2 Senators from each state. The Electoral College does what the Founding Fathers intended. The 17th amendment has seriously damaged the senate in a way that impacts the states like abolishing The Electoral College would effect the country. The cities elect the senators. That’s why HRC became a senator and why Schumer still is.
