In another place, I need some sensible rebuttal for the figures quoted on this site: UK Renewable EnergyAnyone? Something on British power prices? Unreliability of supply? Anything? URGENT. Wind Energy in the United Kingdom: Modelling the Effect of Increases in Installed Capacity on Generation Efficiencies Anthony D Stephens and David R Walwyn
This article shows that large wind fleets will inevitably generate short term surpluses which cannot be accommodated by the grid. An important issue is whether such surpluses may be used beneficially or will need to be shed. A review of possible present and medium to long term energy storage and inter-country transfer technologies comes to the conclusion that excess wind generation will be shed, leading to a progressive reduction in efficiency as the wind fleet increases in size.arxiv.org/pdf/1611.04174The Performance of Wind Farms in the United Kingdom and Denmark Onshore wind turbines represent a relatively mature technology, which ought to have achieved a satisfactory level of reliability in operation as plants age. Unfortunately, detailed analysis of the relationship between age and performance gives a rather different picture for both the United Kingdom and Denmark with a significant decline in the average load factor of onshore wind farms adjusted for wind availability as they get older. An even more dramatic decline is observed for offshore wind farms in Denmark, but this may be a reflection of the immaturity of the technology.www.ref.org.uk/attachments/article/280/ref.hughes.19.12.12.pdfCost and Quantity of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Avoided by Wind Generation By Peter Lang This paper contains a simple analysis of the amount of greenhouse gas emissions avoided by wind power and the cost per tonne of emissions avoided. It puts these figures in context by comparing them with some other ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation. The conclusion: wind farms connected to the National Grid provide low value energy at high cost, and avoid little greenhouse gas emissions.www.researchgate.net/publication/242510472_Cost_and_Quantity_of_Greenhouse_Gas_Emissions_Avoided_by_Wind_GenerationDo they help?

Just ask about the subsidies and the cost/MWH for each energy source...
oh and the standby diesel generator parks

Just ask about the subsidies and the cost/MWH for each energy source... oh and the standby diesel generator parksDo you have something more for me on that, Mondeoman? " UK energy bill subsidies driving boom in polluting diesel farms
National Grid to offer a new set of subsidies to diesel generator operators under a scheme designed as insurance against the lights going out "www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/may/06/uk-energy-bill-subsidies-driving-boom-in-polluting-diesel-farms"STOR and the Capacity Mechanism is a National Grid scheme that offers to purchase reserve power from generators during periods of peak demand. This presents an exciting investment opportunity for businesses, landowners and investors. Why do we need STOR?
Our grid is under increasing pressure to meet power demands during peak times. This pressure is only going to increase as 7GW of the UK’s existing coal generation was closed this year and a further 12GW is expected to close by 2025. National Grid uses reserve power during peak times to meet the spikes in demand and this reserve power is purchased via STOR contracts with a range of small to large private generators."www.gmipower.co.uk/storThere are fields full of generators just in case the UK Grid fails.

Burning coal here cousins. Perhaps your elected ____________ (fill in the blank) would care to notice that our emissions have apparently gone down(?) Now how did that happen?

And again "The Rotors Of Sickness… Wind Energy Proponents Refuse To Acknowledge Proven Wind Turbine Health Hazards By P Gosselin on 4. November 2018
A report on infrasound (low frequency sound below 20 Hz) by German public television ZDF here further reveals how infrasound from wind turbines causes widespread health issues, despite claims by “experts” that these illnesses are “in peoples’ heads” and not really real. The dubious argument that “if you can’t hear it, then it can’t hurt you” is often used. It turns out that in the case of infrasound from wind turbines, this is not true at all.........
.......Infrasound damages heart tissue The ZDF next cites Professor Christian-Friedrich Vahl, Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (HTG) of the University Medical Center Mainz who says infrasound is an energy and that it has a physical effect (23:05). He led a team of researchers who conducted two different trials. Their findings in summary: In both series of experiments, a clear reduction in cardiac muscle strength was observed when subjected to infrasound signals.”"notrickszone.com/2018/11/04/the-rotors-of-sickness-wind-energy-proponents-refuse-to-acknowledge-proven-wind-turbine-health-hazards/
