I don't understand the logic of saying we'll not see another ash cloud like that in our lifetimes. I'm actually speechless. What is funny is that they said exact opposite during the other eruption. They claimed it would be a very high chance of a katla also erupting within the next couple of years and now they suddenly say there is no chance? Gotta love mainstream media...

She's busy again....knowing our luck Katla will go Sunday afternoon, Monster storm clobbers the UK Monday morning all followed by a monster stock market crash on Tuesday. (Think I'll fill the freezer on Saturday.)

I've been keeping an eye on Katla over the past few weeks; this is probably my imagination and admittedly its based on looking at a single set of data limited to a two day period (from the link below). But is their any evidence to link the K index (kindly provided by our host) to volcanic activity. We had a lot of solar storms over the previous week and an associated increase in the K index, during which the quantity and magnitude of earthquakes around Katla reduced. As the K index has subsided, she's started to go a bit nuts again. Any thoughts??? en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/myrdalsjokull/

Pooh!!! Possibly the bad kind... two quakes above 3.0 mag 10+ quakes above 2.0 mag No report of ongoing harmonic activity though it is so late it is early there. Another Katla link: www.jonfr.com/volcano/

BBC obviously knows something we don't.
More seriously, the author of the article might have links to whichever Icelandic authority worries about their vocanoes.

Katla has a way of teasing us, she looked like she was going to blow twice in the Summer just to go back to sleep.
