Even greater with higher sea levels..... Amazing how much of the Yellow River basin in China is below 200 feet. They would have a serious food problem.

Good to see you back, Kiwi. I don't read regularly, but usually do once a month or so, so I'm just now seeing your post.
I have at least two of my high school friends who now battle MS. One of them is on experimental treatment that takes her to regularly to Harvard School of Medicine, and has for the last 6 years or so. She just gave us a report back from her MRI this week that there were no new lesions. She's an eternal optimist, and always a delight to be around, or follow from a distance (as I have to do).
Interesting observation on the state of nutritional science. My observation to several of my friends is that it is harder to separate real science from pseudo-science in nutrition than it is in climate. It seems like it would be a full time pursuit just to try to sort the absolute BS out from the plausible and the sensible.
Very good to see you post again.

This could get confusing for me. The bottom of my building is probably 20 feet above sea level, but that's just eyeballing it. Our cars are all parked in basement levels, though, so I'm pretty sure by the time we get down to B3 - B6 those are all below sea level, despite being less that 50 meters from the sea. (50 meters is being generous with those meters. ). But since I live on the 53rd floor, when the sea level rises like people tell me it's going to, maybe all I'll need is to swap my car for a boat and board somewhere other than the first floor . Actually, this year, we had an interesting typhoon season. Before coming here, I probably would have been very scared of high-rises in typhoons, but it is incredible how these things stand, and don't even have any detectible motion in that wind - even a pendulum hung from the ceiling seems to be totally dead still.

Not everyopne agrees the ice is melting www.longrangeweather.com/ArticleArchives/GreenlandIceSheet.htmI think I can foresee a) Some sort of "save the world" carbon reduction plan at Paris, to reduce world temperatures b) Rather deep confusion several years later when an awkward discovery is made that the planet is cooling rather quickly c) Deep satisfaction that the carbon reduction measures were so effective d) Concern that the world's major grain producing belts are shifting towards the equator Followed by: Starvation and death by cold on a vast scale

They are adept at casting the doubters as the crazies.
Either adapt to the prevailing climate or perish. I think that the hubris notion of "controlling" the climate tends to move us closer to unpreparedness and our own demise.
