Well, SkS let me post for a couple of weeks on their site. Seems I am now banned again.
Seems they really don't like that OHC has not risen as the models indicated it should.
Also seems that they don't like that the rate of SLR has slowed.
One would think after the Glieck deal that there would be at least the decorum of discussion.
OH well, I guess it is just as well to let them wallow in their pre-concieved ideas that the current science is NOT bearing out.

sig, I have a rule on posting. If my post's don't make it. I don't visit the website. I am not intrested in having a one sided debate.

glenn: I agree. Since I can't respond to some of the misinformation postulated there, I won't bother going back. That site had one set of views, and that is that CO2 is a large climate driver. When you point out some of the contortions they go through, and discredit said contortions, they get really testy.
Oh well, on with the discussion here as I visit this site much more often, and as of an hour ago, SkS is not on my list to visit for information.
I tried at Open Mind a few times, my post showing where Tamino was not "ahem....correct as he presented it" stats.....never got past the type in phase.
I don't understand why these folks are so scared of reality.

sig, some of these people are so "all in" they lose track of reality. In many ways it mirrors politics. I think man is having an effect on our climate, I don't give in to the alarmism and I acknowlege that there are many factors and feedbacks that may trump our effect on the climate.

I don't understand why these folks are so scared of reality. For those who hold strong beliefs ( of any sort - including religions, etc. ), those beliefs will trump reality every time. Their beliefs are to them, in a very real sense, as necessary to their existence as breathing. Abandoning their beliefs is akin to suicide for them. Forcing them to do so by presenting incontrovertible evidence, etc. can lead to severe mental breakdown and even real physical suicide. There are many documented cases of this phenomena and entire psychology books given over to the subject. It's best to simply avoid such individuals, and self reinforcing groups of that nature.

Speaking of Mann. This a recent quote from an interview with him. "We know that climate is warming, we know it will continue to warm, but how much?
I for one am a little shocked. Shocked to see that there are no forces of nature that can stop this warming trend. None of the natural forces that have stopped the dozens of other warming trends can evert this disaster!

Glenn: Is that last sentence yours?
I am not at all shocked as of yet, as we have approx 2.0C of climbing to do to get near the highs of the present Holocene epoc.
We may get there.........not sure. One thing I do know tho is, that during each of the past 3 interglacials there was a dramatic temp spike right at the end of them. I hope we are not enjoying that potential spike right now.

sig, it is partially mine. About 1/2 of it comes from the classic move "Casablanca". When Capt. Renault is forced to closed down Rick's casino.
However, in all seriousness I share your concerns about the spike right before things flip flopped. The tornado's seem earlier and earlier every year and the weather "seems" more violent.

Find me a forcing that rivals a 3.7wm-2 forcing for a doubling of CO2.

Seems you need one to account for the cooling we are experiencing.

Find me a forcing that rivals a 3.7wm-2 forcing for a doubling of CO2. In an expiremantal lab? Or observed in the atmosphere? With 1000s of other forcings. Fact is Co2 is being completely and utterly over run, and shown up for the tiny tiny trace gas that it is.

"New theory: CO2 makes you fat" "No, this is not 1 April – and this is not an April Fool’s hoax. Mad as it may sound, Danish researchers have announced a theory that may not only explain why people all over the world are getting fatter and fatter, but also warn of the serious consequences for life on Earth of continued pollution of the atmosphere by CO2 emissions. In itself, the theory is quite simple: CO2 contributes to making us fat." sciencenordic.com/new-theory-co2-makes-you-fat
