Dr. Brown paints an interesting picture of why as the title of his piece is not settled science. He may drop you with some of the Physics but his conclusion is worth the read. "Why CAGW theory is not “settled science”" "Guest post by Dr. Robert Brown, Duke University Physics Department For the general public that does not have an objective scientific bent, how do you tell virtual reality from the real thing? That’s a serious problem, actually. Hell, I have an objective scientific bent and I have plenty of trouble with it. Ultimately, the stock answer is: We should believe the most what we can doubt the least, when we try to doubt very hard, using a mix of experience and consistent reason based on a network of experience-supported best (so far) beliefs." wattsupwiththat.com/2012/03/02/why-cagw-theory-is-not-settled-science/

Sig, we have a minority Labor (= Democrat) Government beholden to our Green Party; the excuse they needed to start an enquiry into the media was the News of the World scandal in the UK. It's hard to say what will happen but Labor + Greens + a couple of independents in the Lower House can pass any legislation they wish, EG, our carbon dioxide tax ( @ $23.00 a tonne), mining industry "super profits" tax and other ill-conceived policy. Got a spare room at your place on the proviso that Obama doesn't get a second term?

Ratty: The way the Repubs keep shooting themselves in the foot, not sure they are going to have a leg to stand on so they can win. No matter who wins tho.....I have a spare room. The bigger question is.....you are a nation of former roques. What in the hell has happened to your spirit that folks will allow this type of government? Have they all gone daft? ??

" Why, thank you Sir. Political correctness as alive and well in Oz and the populace is brainwashed by the media who hardly ever report on anything that contradicts at AGW meme, irrespective of the evidence. The government never listens, probably because they have so many dependent on the public purse. Thank God for the blogs and lets hope that they can continue: anhonestclimatedebate.wordpress.com/

Low CO2 shrinks the size of fleas! "Giant Jurassic Fleas Packed a Mean Mouth" "Scientists have discovered the world’s oldest fleas to date — bloodsuckers that lived among (and possibly on) dinosaurs. D. Huang Female, left, and male fleas from the Middle Jurassic. Related Observatory: Planet of the Apes? No, Humans Have the Cooperative Edge (March 6, 2012) More Observatory Columns RSS Feed RSS Get Science News From The New York Times » Fossils found in northeastern China belong to two ancient species of fleas, the researchers report in the current issue of the journal Nature: one dating to the Middle Jurassic, about 165 million years ago, and the other to the Early Cretaceous, about 125 million years ago. Females ranged from one-eighth to half an inch long, males from one-sixth to a third of an inch. " www.nytimes.com/2012/03/06/science/giant-jurassic-fleas-packed-a-mean-mouth.html"There has historically been much more CO2 in our atmosphere than exists today. For example, during the Jurassic Period (200 mya), average CO2 concentrations were about 1800 ppm or about 4.7 times higher than today. The highest concentrations of CO2 during all of the Paleozoic Era occurred during the Cambrian Period, nearly 7000 ppm -- about 18 times higher than today." www.sodahead.com/united-states/earths-atmosphere-co2-impoverished-levels-drastically-down-from-jurassic-period/blog-240961/

I think that the EPA using the precautionary principle to keep the size of fleas small by limiting the growth of CO2 may be taking regulations a bit too far. But there is just as much "science" as to attributing the temperature variations on CO2 and not the sun. Of course horses is a different matter altogether.

I took the time to read the entire report ( www.dbcde.gov.au/digital_economy/independent_media_inquiry ). There are some very uncomfortable arguments put forth in the report supporting media restrictions, basically for the benefit of society. The question that arises is who determines what is beneficial? In this case it would seem to be the proposed regulatory body, which would be subject to political influence by the ruling party. This is not a recipe for freedom.

Not sure if c02 made the fleas bigger or smaller, but it certainly attracts lots of other parasites

Not sure if c02 made the fleas bigger or smaller, but it certainly attracts lots of other parasites If I'm not mistaken, insect size is limited by O2 concentration/partial pressure due to their primitive respiratory system. Higher O2 allows larger insects.

Much as I love following the ins and outs of the Climate Debate, aren't we all fooling ourselves that it really has anything to do with CO2 or warming, see:- www.green-agenda.com/and you find the admissions of the perpetrators of the warming hoax.

"Eventually you run out of other people's money." An example of this famous quote in action: www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/mar/07/obama-southern-trucks-north-carolina
Another week, another car talk. Barack Obama stopped by a North Carolina truck factory on Wednesday to announce $1bn in tax credits and grants for alternative-energy cars and trucks. It was Obama's third speech on cars and fuel in an election battleground state in three weeks.
Obama is also asking Congress to expand the tax credit for advanced vehicles to $10,000 from $7,500, and to all fuels – including natural gas, which is not covered under the programme.
