Ratty, Missiles fly both ways. While we may paint Iran as a bunch of crazies more than willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces in a nuclear exchange with Israel I seriously doubt this is the case. Nobody wins that exchange and that should be a deterrent for both sides. What is the probability of Iran actually using a nuke against Israel should they get one? If we attacked North Korea every time they threatened to wipe us out we would need more bombs. As I said before tough decisions will have to be made but I don't think a nuclear Iran necessarily equates to a nuclear war with Israel. What should we read into the former Iranian President's statements and why should we think that the new regime thinks differently? Time will tell, Mr. Glenn. I hope, nay pray, you and Mr. Sig are right; I fear though we might wake one day to the news that the Israelis have bombed Iranian nuclear facilities, and the world will be shrouded in the fog of war.. More patience in the negotiations might prevent this unpalatable outcome. It is more likely that there will be an uncontained 'accidental" nuclear explosion at one of the Iranian nuclear facilities, which unfortunately happened when the wind was in the direction to spread radioactive material over Tehran.

The current Shiites have as their 'judgment day' when all Shiites go to heaven and Sunnis and infidels get cast into hell, when the 12th Imam the Mahdi will return, as being as the result of an Armageddon world ending war. They believe this will happen even if they start the world ending war. In previous centuries this was seen as fanciful talk no such weapons existed. Now they are on their way to triggering their own judgment day and nothing will stop them.

And he was not the only one. It looks more and more like the police are amateurs. If a police 'officer' fires more than 2 shots at a target and does not hit it then that 'officer' should be suspended from duty on half pay and sent for a firearms course. If the target is too difficult to be hit then it should not have been shot at. In this case the entire group should be on half pay and learning to use their issued weapon.

I have read and heard the following statement many times over the years from both Sunni and Shia fundamentalists ... "We love death as much as you westerners love life"!!!! They ARE NOT a tiny minority. We do not comprehend this philosophy ... our 'life-loving' response is ... Oh, they can't mean that. THEY DO! They are not like little Ducky-Buns, the North Korean Sun God. He knows he's mortal and wants his reward in this world. I hope I'm wrong (about the former).

The Christians had the same approach to death if you go back to Roman times. It is still there as the 'resurrection' meaning that death is not the end. 'Death where is your sting' etc.. That is what led to the rise of Christianity, despite ISIS style approach to Christians in the various circuses of the 'Roman Empire'. It is a recurrent theme of many religions. What makes the Shia version different is that rather than just being only about their death, it is about an Armageddon leading to everyone's death. If they had a button that would turn the Sun into a supernova they would press it. These are extreme fundamentalist Muslims, and we have politicians about to let them have nuclear weapons in order for then to gain domestic votes. It seems that only Israel, continually facing annihilation, understands the urgency and the extreme risk to the world. And don't think that there aren't ways for this problem to reach Main Street USA, in order to have more domestic votes the same politicians have ordered a 'go soft' on illegal immigrants crossing the southern border of the USA. Well guess what Iran/Isis can just walk in and probably already have.

I don't fear peril, and I for sure am not ready to endorse further bankrupting the country with a "perceived" threat. It will be what it will be. Better to be economically sound that broke. At least living is enjoyable then isn't it?

At least living is enjoyable then isn't it? Sig. I'm with you on not wanting to bankrupt the country ... and I certainly do not want to see another American army in the Middle East. However, I think that we, as a country, need to have this conversation without the politically correct rhetoric. 'Know thine enemy' is an old but wise bit of advice. So ... are they our enemy? The opinions range all over the place. Are they a threat? and of what magnitude? Again, opinions range from ... small group of crazies that will self-destruct ... to ... greatest threat since (insert favorite threat). Is this a war on (adjective pres. won't use) terrorism? If so, how many members are really a threat? In the past we rounded up whole groups that were considered threats perhaps with a lot less reason when we were attacked. Without a systematic, public evaluation, any future attack such as 911 immediately delivers us into the hands of those, whose first choice is war ... generally with a backlash of public support. No, we should not fear them ... but we should prepare so as to not just react. Who the hell are these people??? The public should demand public answers.

There are nut jobs in all religions. My primary care doctor, now retired, is a Muslim. He thought the radicals were all a bunch of nuts. His understanding was nothing like the radical understanding in regards to Muslim end-times etc.
The greatest equalizer is economics. Remember the old adage about money? It is amazing how some wealth starts to change one's mindset isn't it?
Want to counter the loonies? Give them a reason to live, prosper and participate fruitfully. Ya don't do it by shutting doors, depriving folks. That only creates more fear on both sides.
Remember, we have an open threat to Bomb the heck out of Iran. All options are on the table mentality.
You would think they SHOULD be concerned and react accordingly............right?

Instead, they’re choosing tax cuts and the promise of long-term savings -- and some of the Tea Party members who came to Congress on the pay-as-you-go promise are going along. Follow the money Sig. I still believe that Socialism for the rich far exceeds that for the poor. Both parties feed their constituencies from the trough at the expense of the middle. I'll repeat jefferson. "I do not know whether it is to yourself or Mr. Adams I am to give my thanks for the copy of the new constitution. I beg leave through you to place them where due. It will be yet three weeks before I shall receive them from America. There are very good articles in it: and very bad. I do not know which preponderate. What we have lately read in the history of Holland, in the chapter on the Stadtholder, would have sufficed to set me against a Chief magistrate eligible for a long duration, if I had ever been disposed towards one: and what we have always read of the elections of Polish kings should have forever excluded the idea of one continuable for life. Wonderful is the effect of impudent and persevering lying. The British ministry have so long hired their gazetteers to repeat and model into every form lies about our being in anarchy, that the world has at length believed them, the English nation has believed them, the ministers themselves have come to believe them, and what is more wonderful, we have believed them ourselves. Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusets? And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it's motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20. years without such a rebellion.[1] The people can not be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independant 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure. Our Convention has been too much impressed by the insurrection of Massachusets: and in the spur of the moment they are setting up a kite to keep the hen yard in order. I hope in god this article will be rectified before the new constitution is accepted." - Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, Paris, 13 Nov. 1787[2]

www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2015/04/20/the-insiders-obamas-global-warming-distraction/Incredibly, in Sunday’s weekly video address, President Obama said, “Today, there is no greater threat to our planet than climate change.” I say “incredibly” because that just isn’t true – and if President Obama really believes it is, then it is time to panic. Given the state of the world and the urgent problems facing us that directly affect our prospects for peace and prosperity, global warming shouldn’t even be in the top five on the list of problems our president should be worrying about. In case this administration hasn’t noticed, a lot of the world is burning and global economic growth is so stagnant that it feeds the prospects of instability at home and abroad.

Interesting coincidence of Astromet forecast of ' everyone will know its going cold' and ' Financial market meltdown' Jo Nova not talking about Global Warming - worth a read as are the comments. 4th quarter 2017 will be a time to be somewhere warm and funded.
