All us old farts need to work this ground. I have personally converted to skeptical 6 people that I claim full credit for. I have a further 3 in progress, they are reading the stuff and will end up at a minimum not zealots of the CAGW cluster. Ratty you are still able to work the ground at some level. The Gold Coast airport was a disgrace power coming in and out all computers having to reboot etc. Just ask the question it was sunny how did the power fall over??? Anyway we are all working at some level, that is part of a rational process even if you see the future as an AGW outcome clearly its about a rational move from the current cluster of propositions to natural gas with nuclear as the long run proposition as simple as that. yes all dispatchable power and all electric but that is well beyond our life expectancy. Missourians are naturally skeptical on average ... thus making my job somewhat easier. However, I do live in a college town and have to deal with "the Nirvana gas bubble syndrome". Our mayor squeeks a bit about CO2 every now and again ... but if he cuts off our fossil fuels he's destined to be a lamp post ornament.

[ Snip ] Head over to Paris and you can become a double yes. It would be a slow trip by carbon-fibre yacht. Besides, I'm not partial to the colour yellow.

Never say never. But Spain is not Virginia. If Virginia is like Missouri, a disproportionate amount of the National guard are recruited from outside of the major urban areas. The Guard is not generally the choice of the ultra liberal left. Whether they see their duty to the State to be strict obedience to the Governor, regardless of issue is an open question. In 1861, the Missouri State Guard formed the core of the resistance to the Union invasion. I don't think that many guardsmen would appreciate being ordered to arrest or fire on their fellow citizens for defending a right that most of them also probably believe in. Virginia did not initially secede from the Union when the first Southern States did. The final straw was when the Federal government demanded that they raise troops to suppress the rebellion. This they firmly refused to do.

The 2nd amendment is the defining issue in the urban/rural cultural divide. State and city governments across the nation are ignoring the SCOTUS Heller decision. SCOTUS will rule on an extremely important NY case in the next session which should bring this crap to a head. I’m not betting which way it will go. The US Constitution is preserved by the honor system and honor is in short supply these days.

I don't believe it will get that far. The Supreme Court will step in and the Virginian proposed law will be struck down as an infringement of the right to keep and bear arms. This is what is happening to NY with similar infringements. indeed a ruling from SCOTUS could be forthcoming on the NY restrictions that may prevent VA even proceeding.

Apologies everywhere but no remorseThe left are now finding out that they are not as popular as they think they are. In fact, most people of sense find them repulsive, and will not vote for them if given the chance.Supreme Court Hands Trump Huge Win, Makes Impeachment Article 2 Null & Void:
