Is this over the top? It's the Heartland Institutes new advertising campaign. Attachments:

Sure it is. But so are many other adverts, etc. from 'the other side'. Recall the video of "sceptic" kids getting blown up by their teacher? And all those statements from Gore, et al ? And of course, the serious calls for mass forced sterilization and so on from the Malthusians. Compared to that, this one billboard is small potatoes. Gander/goose.

curiousgeorge, Wrong is wrong. That whole they did it so I can too thing is counterproductive. What's next a billboard by the Sierra Club claiming that Adolph Hitler was a "denialist"?

It's not about right and wrong. It's about winning or losing. Ask any lawyer.

curiousgeorge, Man is either causing warming or we are not. For me it is not about political ideology and winning or losing. It is about finding out the truth.

Good one cg, I think I have argued with some of them that have done that course and they wouldn't know a fact if it bit them on the rse. But seriously, have a look at milesmathis.com/updates.html and scroll down to New Paper 3/21/2012 The Copenhagen Interpretation and the fall of 20th Century Physics. for a brilliant exposition of the way truth has been distorted to mean almost anything you want it to be !

One campaign is implying that global warming folk have a desire to blow up sceptics, and the other campaign is...erm...implying that the global warming folk have a desire to blow up sceptics. Now if the 10:10 video had had Monckton, Inhofe, McIntyre and Watts pushing the red button you might have had a point.

I don't understand question You don't understand the question possibly because claiming that Adolph Hitler was a "denialist" would be a false statement. Hitler used Nature to his advantage in the early years of his ascent to dictatorship. Personally I would have used Hansen's face (or any number of AGW lunatics like Hansen) and their direct quotes.

My question is: Is it appropriate to use the Unibomber or any other historically ominous person as a tool in the AGW debate? Personally, I find it over the top and counterproductive.

Al Gore was the vice president of the United States. Take the quiz. Did Al Gore say it? Or was it the Unabomber? How about James Hansen. Is he historically ominous? Should CEO's of large oil and coal fuel companies be put on trial (Nuremberg style) for high crimes against humanity and nature? David Suzuki is another. The list is endless of such maniacs. HI could have used any of those three, but most people wouldn't know who they are
