You don't need a degree. But you do need a good grasp of reality and study. It has been ages since I went there.

You don't need a degree. But you do need a good grasp of reality and study. It has been ages since I went there. We must not be talking about the same one. You do need a degree to get in climate sceptics as it is just for scientists. I got in because of who I knew. I got tired of Sonja griping at me plus a few other things and left.

Over here ratty we have year on year reductions in the monies Local authorities have to spend on local services ( set against a backdrop of both an increasing population and an ageing one). Road Gritting , over winter, is one area that has been hammered so long range winter forecasts have been 'useful' in limiting 'overspends' in that area...... of course 09/2010's winter caused massive issues for many councils...... Professor Viner of CRU made the celebrated forecast about children not knowing snow in the UK Independent about the UK. " Average temperatures in Britain were nearly 0.6°C higher in the Nineties than in 1960-90, and it is estimated that they will increase by 0.2C every decade over the coming century. Eight of the 10 hottest years on record occurred in the Nineties.
However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".
"Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said.
The effects of snow-free winter in Britain are already becoming apparent. This year, for the first time ever, Hamleys, Britain's biggest toyshop, had no sledges on display in its Regent Street store. "It was a bit of a first," a spokesperson said.
Fen skating, once a popular sport on the fields of East Anglia, now takes place on indoor artificial rinks. Malcolm Robinson, of the Fenland Indoor Speed Skating Club in Peterborough, says they have not skated outside since 1997. "As a boy, I can remember being on ice most winters. Now it's few and far between," he said."Monday 20 March 2000Given that forecast from the illustrious CRU - it must be true - so any government believing in AGW should have stopped all funding of gritting, salt and snow ploughs as there would be no more snow - correct GreyWolf? Edit - I just looked Halifax Yorkshire UK can expect snow showers next week - get ready for all the excited children asking what it is. He also said "Heavy snow will return occasionally, says Dr Viner, but when it does we will be unprepared. "We're really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time," Odd you didn't mention that esp. when he was proven right 10 years later?

yes, he posted regularly in the yahoo climate group. He also posts on facebook. He posted more in depth on yahoo because it was a closed group. he makes his living doing this. if he wasn't accurate his client base would dry up. I could probably bring a facebook link over here. www.facebook.com/piers.corbyn?fref=tsThanks for the link. Is the yahoo group still active? I'd like to read whatever is over there.. I've looked and I think the yahoo group is gone. probably could get anyone to be in charge. I would have done it again if asked but that was unlikely to happen. There were a few there who were hard core statists and libertarians like me just rubbed them the wrong way.

I took myself out of the group years ago. Tried to talk Eduardo to come over here and post. He had an interesting graph he made from Timo's work.

I tried to get Grist to post here. He is a nice guy. He took a look and said he couldn't post here because the level of knowledge would be a problem.
Too many deniers. I had to laugh at that one. Deniers backed by literature.

"26 January 2015 - Provisional full-year global mean temperature figures show 2014 was one of the warmest years in a record dating back to 1850." www.metoffice.gov.uk/news/release/archive/2015/2014-global-temperaturebut, "the uncertainty ranges mean it's not possible to definitively say which of several recent years was the warmest." I didn't know there was any uncertainty about warming! They even give the El Nino non-event a mention. Enjoy.
