tr: You are welcome. I was doing some research as Fargo wants to spend 1.8 Billion dollars for a diversion. The land area that they want to "take" is approx 80,000 acres. The mayor is trying to keep this a Federal Project, because under the ND constitution it is illegal to "take" land like this. A simple, and less expensive solution was one of the proposals, but would have required Fargo to purchase approx 40 rods on each side of the river, broaden the channel and put up 15' d**es. OF course, this would have changed down town Fargo.....and to Fargo this is NOT ok......but it is ok to take land from folks who built OUT of the flood plain. I don't live in Fargo, but they want my money to do this? ? Nope......not if I can muster forces against it, which I am doing.

Pooh: Yes I do. That was a great book.
If you enjoy reading that type of cultural book, take a gander at Jon Hassler. Staggerford should be your 1st read. Hassler shares many of the same qualities of writing etc that Ole Rolvaag exibited.
Funny in a way. I have always been a reader. Never did get into the "TV" culture. When I was a kid my mom would hollar for me. I didn't hear her, even tho I was close, as I was off on some adventure as presented via a book.
Now I enjoy reading scientific papers and tech journals.
Life's joys are numerous.

The harshest winters always seem to coincide with a quiet sun: And the winter of 1887-88 was just on the other side of the bump. Would make an interesting plot!

The harshest winters always seem to coincide with a quiet sun: Cutty ... I was checking out some of the other graphs on the page that this one came from. This was the first long-term temp anomaly chart I'd seem for England (1780-2013). Looks to me like you've used up your positive anomalies for the next several centuries! Sorry about that. For some reason I can only copy the url of the thumbnail and it won't enlarge. probably me.
