Because plants don't freeze. Sigh We already agree the plants get benefit from the latent heat The question here is what is the correct scientific explanation? 1. Warm water is being sprayed upon them by humans 2. Latent heat of fusion means that the water provided by humans requires more cooling by nature than if there was no additional heating of the natural cooling force available. 3. The only heating that is going on is heating of the natural cooling force Since we are in agreement the plants get additional protection from the latent heat please reconsider what i just said to you about the steam versus the ice ------------------------- OK. Thank you for confirming that no heat is released in an observable manner when steam cools to go from a less complex phase to a more complex phase. Now why do you think heat is released in an observable manner when water cools to go from a less complex phase to a more complex phase as ice forms?

If it were not we could not measure it. All you are trying to do is defend a stupid statement you are on record as making.

No heat is released at all, it is totally an internal event where an energy that is available in water has to be removed before ice can form. There is no heat of fusion. There is less heat in the cooler icey water than in the hotter water. By cooling water we cannot create warming Icey water obviously cannot heat anything more than warmer water can do Obviously the warmer water heats the colder icey water.
