It's been a very mild winter so far and today I saw my first flowering Coltsfoot. I've been recording Coltsfoot Phenology for 31 years and this years date is 6 days later than average. It was interesting to note that the last few years dates are very similar to 23 years ago (1989-1991) which could imply the solar cycles (i.e x2) are involved.

Autumn approaches here ... still too bloody hot for human life to survive. ;-)

Melbourne (Australia) was 11C at around 9AM today and is still only 18C as I type this at 6PM daylight savings time.

Well, spring is getting closer but temps are not rising. No blooms here. I drove down to Evesham, Worcestershire on Tuesday which is 40 miles south of Birmingham and around 300 feet lower. I was surprised to see how far advanced into Spring it was there, with Daffodils, Crocus, Periwinkle and shrubs already in flower. It will likely be another two weeks before they flower here.

You must be a detective, Tobyglyn .... PS: We're planning a trip South mid March to get away from the heat and humidity. It's hard days for a climate sceptic in Brisbane.

Sounds like my kind of weather - Here we normally expect 35C from June to November (hurricane season) and humidities of 85%+ You could go into the sea but you wouldn't cool off much as normal SST in summer is around 30C

31C is 87 degrees F. That would be a mild summer day in Houston, Texas where it's not uncommon at all to hit 100F (37C) from June through October.

They are forecasting 85F here today - but it's humid so there may be storms later. Around normal for February

Well we had a complete non-winter winter this year. . . .to go with the almost complete non-summer last summer. Seasons here are hard to notice, this past year they have been even harder to notice. Basically its been about 3 years since we had weather here. That would be either a heat wave or a cold wave. Yesterday it was hitting 76f in the house thats very warm for August. Albiet the outside was a bit cooler, the low elevation sun shines better in the south facing windows in February than August. '

12c here in middle of Norway today, which is pretty much like a cold summer day by norwegian standards. Also had 14-15c in the mildest areas of west coast yesterday.

Well, in the upper midwest, I am still looking for spring. Temps are forecast to crawl above 0F by next Tuesday.
