Health of ice pack is very good.

The Westbound Arctic Tern and Novara are still not yet clear Novara talks about "navigating through the Bellot Strait, then the rush south!"

The Westbound Arctic Tern and Novara are still not yet clear Novara talks about "navigating through the Bellot Strait, then the rush south!" i have already given you details of a satellite phone on artic tern giving positions regularly. They approach cambridge bay having left gjoa. Novara left bellot many hours before Arctic tern. Novaras blog position report which is often many days out of date gives their position as west of gjoa.

Bear bangers ... that's a new term for me. Depending on how carefully you worded it, you could craft a story that could hold an audience for quite a while that used the terms "Bear" and "Banging."

So would be ironic if they were trapped by ice and eaten by polar bears? Both were supposed to be extinct by now, right?

Basically explosive noise makers to scare the bears with. Fishermen around here have used bangers to scare off sea lions, except that they don't work if the sea lions are hungry. You can scare off a curious sea lion with them but one intent on a meal, it hardly phases them.

ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/meant80n.uk.phpForgive my ignorance, but it is not obvious that much melting would now be happening. Of much greater importance [to me anyhow] is that it is beautifully warm in the South of France!!

ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/meant80n.uk.phpForgive my ignorance, but it is not obvious that much melting would now be happening. Of much greater importance [to me anyhow] is that it is beautifully warm in the South of France!! The wiggle watchers are refreshing their screens every few seconds watching with bated breath many of them apparently praying for there to be more melt so they can say how bad things are They are repeatedly moving the goal posts from extent to area to volume and then to the number of years at those levels or the recovery to better than (name a year) in extent or area or volume. Eventually, they are going to have to find something else to try to panic the sheeple about. Of course the Met Office will also now have to find another excuse reason for the latitudinal jetstreams which had been blamed on a 'warmer arctic' which unfortunately for them was colder both last year and this year, but the ice seems to have returned now so the reasonings based on albedo of ice and radiation from water has been falsified. So what will be the reason now for the latitudinal jetstreams oh and Slingo's heavier showers ( it's rain Jim, but not as we know it) ?
