Well according to the medium term forecasts most of the USA can expect to be extremely cold and as the omega high near the Azores moves a little UK will be first on the warm side of the jet stream at +13C then on the cold side at -12C so those who have decamped from RSS as the temperature of record to the CET will now be wondering if they jumped too soon. We seem to have another couple of days after which here in the UK temps are going to plummet for the rest of the 2 week forecast....-2/3 expected That's pretty cold for us! Good call nautonnier.

The precipitation three month outlook is very close to what Joe Bastardi forecast using his 'analogue' modeling with a wet California. That will stop the drought mongers hand wringing so presumably they will need to think of something else. Watch them move seamlessly from climate change causing unprecedented drought to climate change causing unprecedented floods. Meanwhile, in the East Global Warming will have caused the unprecedented extreme cold. This is the same as the lack of ice in the Arctic causing the latitudinal jet streams while the increased sea ice in the Antarctic is causing the latitudinal jet streams

Yep....we're starting a cold patch due to last at least a week....last 7 years have had more snow and cold then I remember from the last 40 odd (approx age giveaway )...not including the last 2, which were incredibly wet! Also bare in mind it only takes 1" of snow to cause utter chaos here!

That will teach them to complain about no snow and how Ski lodges were going to be renamed Hill Walk Lodges. There is an old English saying: "Be it dry or be it wet, the weather always pays its debt." The Californians seem to be having floods at the moment. So they are getting the rain, its just all in one payment.

Sig, I think we had this discussion before. Viner was absolutely right there has been no Cold Snow since 2003. The current snow in UK and France is Warm Snow caused by unstoppable global warming.

Seems to be funneling arctic air into the heart of California.
