That's pretty brutal. The only comparison I have is the five years I spent in Minot, ND as a Missileer. I have to admit that 55 degrees and rain (current conditions in Northern California) is much more palatable than sub-zero ambient air temperatures without the windchill.

You were here for 5 years and didn't stay Billlee49? ??

No offense to my buddy Sigurdur but if I never spend another winter in ND it will be to soon!

To put the current cold in perspective for my area (Southeast Texas).
Most of the area North of Galveston should experience the first freeze of the fall/winter season tonight.
Average first freeze for the area:
Bush Intercontinental: Nov. 30
Houston Hobby: Dec. 20
Conroe: Nov. 25
College Station: Nov. 29
Sugar Land: Dec. 10
So we are an average of a full 4 to 5 weeks ahead of schedule.

It's not unprecedented but very, very few times in my life have we seen a freeze warning covering this much of the South this early. Attachments:

Managed to get out of Dodge before the Souris river overflowed its banks and put most of downtown Minot under several feet of water. A good Army buddy of mine is from the Grand Forks area and doesn't miss the springtime flood ritual either!

Love it! I'm sure the "f**k you, winter!" crowd is hoping for a rapid increase in global temperatures.
