OK. We sorta know the weather in the Northern Hemisphere. Part of it is damn cold.
But....how is that summer coming along down south?

Very nice day in Melbourne - about 34 degC today. We spent it on the beach at Shoreham, looking for weedy sea dragons in the pools and collecting a few nice round stones for my fruit nets [ We have parrots, blackbirds, possums (2 varieties) rats and bats to contend with!!]
Over the weekend, it will be down to 19degC, and I truly hope it rains as we are getting awfully dry here.

Very hot predicted for Obama's visit for G20 meeting ..... 35C Saturday, 39C Sunday. I've sent a "Getting in early" email to my address book (Cc. Sig): PS: We went into the CBD last night and the city is abuzz, street entertainers, light shows, dining venues busy. I hope that we have a peaceful weekend and that the rent-a-crowd protest-about-anything lot stay away (slim hope?). www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/whats-brisbane/featured-events/g20-cultural-celebrations

My berries (raspberry and blackberry(thornless)) are doing very well - which indicates we had a colder winter to fix the fruiting buds. My gas use was also much higher, and we are still heating the house at times even now, with summer nearly here. Melbourne temp 4c below average today. Melbourne weather is fickle with wide swings from hot to cold (Northerlies are foehn winds, which heat up coming down from the "Great Divide", and back of that to the North is desert - and then South is the Antarctic - so bizarre temperature changes when the wind swings rapidly from Northerly to Southerly. Why people insist on living here is beyond me!

[ Snip ] Why people insist on living here is beyond me! We had six years in Melbourne when I was in the RAAF. Loved the change of season which we don't get in SE Queensland. Not fond of the traffic now though ....

Melbourne has received "World's most liveable city award" several times in recent years.
They obviously don't include the public transport system in the ratings.
BTW We had some decent rain here last night!! [Probably better than Brisbane at 40 degC, infested with politicians!]

Hows the Australian Spring progressing guys?
With northern land areas now cooling the November global temp would need a helping hand from down under to keep up with the record setting recent months ( though the oceans still appear warm across the N.H.?).

GrayWolf (Can I call you GW for short?), Maybe that should read "some of the oceans appear warm" .... Unisys SST AnomalyWe are now officially in Summer. Spring was - in my part of the world - warmer and drier than usual. Doug, Kiwi and Anthony may have something to add about other parts.

Pretty average in Melbourne so far, but Sydney has been hot recently. We have probably received a little more rain in Melbourne than is consistent with an El Nino.
Bureau of Met is forecasting a warmer than normal Summer, but they normally do! [Does'nt mean to say they will not be right]
