With my limited graphing skills, I can confirm that LONG TERM CONTINUOUS Australia temperature records show NO warming, except in the cities. Places like Cape Otway (Victoria), Coonabarabran (NSW), and Marble Bar (Western Australia) which have long records show slight cooling. Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin show warming as you would expect.
PS: It's predicted to be extremely hot in SE Queensland and many other parts of Australia in the next few days.

I think that we are seeing Australia take up leadership on 'climate policy'.
It can be summed up with the phrase: "Don't do something! Sit there."

Very tame reporting from our uber-alarmist ABC: They could only manage "unusual" ....

Very tame reporting from our uber-alarmist ABC: They could only manage "unusual" .... Yes, surprisingly neutral. "Sandy Berlowitz Cole remembered "an old drover friend telling me it snowed 60 years ago around the Alice but no one would believe him!" 60 years? Cycle lovers rejoice!

Ratty any sign of that dry spell you were promised.
just saying because I did see a few showers are predicted for a good slice of the dry bit.
A hell of a lot of energy is squeezed out into the upper atmosphere when that rain is generated, where does it go? Space?
of course a wet central Australia presents a massive temperature buffer for later in the year could be good for the farmers.

A hell of a lot of energy is squeezed out into the upper atmosphere when that rain is generated, where does it go? Space? of course a wet central Australia presents a massive temperature buffer for later in the year could be good for the farmers. NonEntropic, the average rainfall for our area, measured in Brisbane (1840-1994) is 1149.1mm. To date this year, I have measured 1160.8mm (46.4 inches). We have had a couple of "extreme" rain events in that total but it has been raining/showering the past week or so and predicted to continue for a few days. Near the coast, we don't expect many dry spells and a lot of the country has been VERY dry the past few years, as expected in Australia. You can see there is not a lot of blue (wet) on this chart: Australia's Variable Rainfall (1890 - 2013)There has been some encouraging falls in the far West of Queensland and more forecast over the next few days. It will not be drought breaking. . Higgins Storm ChasingYou never know where these events may lead and I'm a believer in the theory that "once it starts raining ....." Look at Texas. ** ** and Queensland is MUCH bigger than Texas. PS: Australia is a climate alarmist's nirvana: Droughts, flooding rains, cyclones .... like everywhere else.

That is really a remarkable poster Ratty. As a geographer, it sets my spatial senses aquivering.
