A Dutch court has ordered the government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25% by 2020. Other cases are being brought in Belgium and the Philippines and it's hoped it will continue in other countries. It should be quite easy to implement, just switch off most of the power and close down the factories. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33253772

This is the way the EPA in the US brings in a lot of regulation. It has a cozy deal with Green NGOs that 'sue' the EPA to say protect the delta smelt. The EPA does not defend the case in court and then crying crocodile tears empties large proportion of the contents of Californian reservoirs into the Pacific. (The problem with the delta smelt is the Department of Agriculture introducing large mouth bass which eat the delta smelt - but don't tell anyone while the EPA can hold Los Angeles to ransom

I thought the government made the laws and the courts applied them. Our judiciary would be stupid enough to follow suit though ......

I thought the government made the laws and the courts applied them. Our judiciary would be stupid enough to follow suit though ...... It is a really easy way for activists to get 'regulations' into law. Most environmental agencies run a kind of revolving door employment system with the environmental activist groups. So for instance; they have a chat in the pub about what the government won't support but they want as a regulation. Say the level of PM-10 or less in mining. Then find somewhere a workplace dust requirement which does not apply to mining and agree that the activists will sue the agency for not applying the safe dust requirement to mining. The agency does not defend the action and is therefore 'forced' by the law to apply the workplace dust requirement to mining. The next day they are closing mines that cannot meet the new stringent requirements which apply to the dust in the air regardless of protective gear. In many states (Australian and US) this kind of activity is allowed by the local politicians especially if it supports what they want. This is what happens if a government creates agencies that can create regulations. There is little difference to the 'man in the street' between a regulation and a law. So the agencies effectively do an end run around the legislators.

Nautonnier, I find it odd that you have so much time to spend talking about politics in the USA, when you have oh so little time to spend explaining why you have some strange ideas about Leif Svalgaard and astronomers in general, which then, in turn, seem to form the basis of your beliefs about the Earths climate.

I have no strange ideas - you have strange interpretations. Note in your recent continuation with others you are happy to say that the Sun doesn't move as it is in free fall. Yet you claim to accept the Sun's 'wobble' now although decrying ideas of the Sun moving around the barycenter. Happily taking up two positions at the same time.
I saw a quote recently that you (or readers may appreciate)
“It is often said, “Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.” This is not, despite surface appearance, because it would be unfair to your opponent. Rather, it is because such a duel is unfair to you. For one who lacks the means to engage in a battle of wits, lacks also the means to recognize when he has lost, making him an indefatigable, if inept, opponent.” Anon
and you may take that any way you wish.

If you are falling you are moving. The Sun falls towards the planets. The planets move in a circle and so the Sun moves in a circle.
