I kinda like the idea. But the owner has already dismissed the notion.

I kinda like the idea. But the owner has already dismissed the notion. Understandably so, as old Danes will need a place to go when the North Sea reclaims Denmark.

Get it quick before it melts ..... "WASHINGTON—President Trump made his name on the world’s most famous island. Now he wants to buy the world’s biggest. The idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland has captured the former real-estate developer’s imagination, according to people familiar with the discussions, who said Mr. Trump has, with varying degrees of seriousness, repeatedly expressed interest in buying the ice-covered autonomous Danish territory between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans. In meetings, at dinners and in passing conversations, Mr. Trump has asked advisers whether the U.S. can acquire Greenland, listened with interest when they discuss its abundant resources and geopolitical importance and, according to two of the people, has asked his White House counsel to look into the idea." Not fake news Ratty - but he's been told its not a possibility.

In our quarry, we buy equipment tires from China, various tools, lots of steel wire, not sure what else. So yes it does matter some for sure.

Is there a "CRAP" index as part of GDP? If not, then perhaps there should be. I'm sure that China would account for a large proportion of it (more in previous decades). How many of the items in those baskets would make the list? And various CRAP sub-classes.

It would appear that China's strategy is to tell Mr. Trump off and take their chances on the Election next November. With a 36% approval rating I think Mr. Trump has backed himself in a corner. Rule number one. "It's the economy stupid". President Trump's claim to fame has been a roaring economy. I don't think he has a chance of being re-elected if the economy were to go south. The Chinese know it. The Democrats know it. Thats why I am out of the market and into a more conservative position. Stormy weather is coming

There is a difference. President Trump can be voted out of office. President Xi is president for life - so there is one way he can leave office but it could be before Trump does. Therefore, President Xi has more riding on a successful outcome for China than Trump does for a successful outcome for the USA
