At last - I hope ** - some good news and a bit of ticker being shown by our Prime Minister: Morrison passes up ‘flawed’ UN migration compactAustralia will refuse to sign up to the UN’s migration pact, which has already been rejected by the US and several European countries, on the grounds it would weaken border security and undermine the annual immigration program.
Scott Morrison will today announce the decision to snub the UN’s Global Compact for Migration.
The Prime Minister said the compact, which seeks countries to sign up to a global set of principles for safe, orderly and regular migration, was a hollow document that was contrary to the national interest and would be used against Australia by critics of its border policies.
“I’m not going to sign up to an agreement that I believe will only be used by those who have always tried to tear our stronger border policies down,” Mr Morrison said.** pressure may yet be brought to bear

You have NO IDEA how jealous of the USA, the politicians (I won't call them leaders) and EUrocrats are. They seem to think that if they could only emulate the US by having a federal army and imposition of a central EUrocracy then they would be as powerful as the USA. Yes - this may be difficult to imagine but in the European leaders you have people who have less understanding of the power of the US Constitution than a democrat university professor.

It is surprisingly similar politics in France to the USA. Elitist townies using the metro all the time and then flying en-vacance, cannot understand the fuss about a few tens of centimes per litre increase in tax. Whereas the French equivalent of the flyover states in the countryside where there are very few transport options have to use their own transport and the Marie Antoinette style 'let them drive electric cars' from Macron goes down as well as the original quote. {France intends to ban all gas and diesel ICE cars by 2040 - 20 years time}

Perhaps some trained/bused in for the occasion. I made my first trip to France last summer ... Paris of course, as that was Marta's choice. The train system was quite good, but not exactly cheap. I was assured by everyone who had been there that Parisians were the rudest people in the world. I was pleased to find that "Parisians" had apparently changed. They were very friendly to me ... even helpful. I intend to visit some of the "flyover" zones this summer. See if my luck holds.

Me thinks that blind AGW faithfulness may be under attack from an unexpected (but perhaps predictable) source. Parts of France are "pushing" the issue. It is a sad statement on western journalism when the best reporting on certain western issues may come from Al Jazeera.

Cheap Power Matters More to Australians Than Climate Change, Poll Says
** Voters prioritize lower electricity bills over emission cuts ** Ruling coalition narrows poll gap with Labor as election nears
A new poll shows Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s focus on getting power bills down may be starting to pay dividends. Are more than 50 percent of Australian voters firm, true believers? Perhaps it's time for your PM to champion the great Aussie Political Switcheroo. Tell the public he's tired of the UN-IPCC-GreenLizard Coalition treating Australians like frigging retards whose only purpose on this planet is to support a rapidly failing fairy tale sold by a bunch of swagmen (perhaps unfairly used like 'traveling political hucksters' aka carpetbaggers in Americanese) for the benefit of their new leisurely leftist masters from the not-so-green swamp. How well might that play in working class suburbia? The 'force' appears to be in the right phase, and is apparently spreading. As the Hash House Harriers might say ... On! On!

We were doomed under the previous Prime Munster. We had a chance until the 'conservatives' knifed former PM Tony 'Global Warming is all Crap' Abbott. Our conservatives are now about a right wing as Bernie. ** Our next government will be led by an opportunist ex union leader who tells us that we will have 50% renewable energy by 2030. Some of us will need to move out to make way for all the PV panels and windmills. How hot does it get in Missouri? Could you get me a Green Card? There will be no more coal-fired power and never a chance of nuclear. There is also a chance that coal exports will be banned so we can inflict misery on others. If current PM went full denialist, he might get more votes than on his present course but it will not happen. Now, where did I hide the razor blades? ** no, not Madoff

Perhaps a basic high school / college course ought to entail them writing a paper on "How I will pay my power bill ... and still have enough left over for the other stuff". Climate change: Australian students skip school for mass protestwww.bbc.com/news/world-australia-46380418You could probably get a resident visa, but you might not like our climate extremes: -5 F to 100 F in a good year. The ticks are an xtra bonus. But the power is cheap ... and if we get desperate we can burn corn. PS - At least Bernie Madoff with the cash ... for awhile.
