Surely the Democrats haven't descended to this level of desperation/stupidity?

Surely the Democrats haven't descended to this level of desperation/stupidity? On numerous occasions - yes

If the bombs were real, it seems to me that mailing a bomb has almost no chance of success as an assassination attempt. Chances of discovery are very high, but suppose it isn't discovered. The sender would still need to be sure it was in the target's possession when detonated, and chances of this are even smaller, but it brings up a question: what kind of triggering/fusing is being used to try to accomplish this?
I'm beginning to lean more and more toward this just being a stunt. I don't think these were intended to detonate. I think they were intended to be discovered in hopes they would be politically explosive. I don't think the party is behind it, but somebody (maybe plural) who thinks they will help the party.
Regardless of who it is, or whether I'm right or wrong, I want to see the responsible party caught, exposed, and prosecuted.

All the targets - with the exception of Soros and the misaddressed Brennan etc, have a pre-screening system in place, these found the 'bombs'. Once identified the USPS has cameras that will identify similar packages and flag them for investigation so any similar will be stopped _IF_ they go through the USPS. Sounds like some were made to look like they had but were actually hand delivered.

Edit: I forgot about Maxine Waters. So one person was actually running for office. Sometimes, I hate that I'm so skeptical (not often, but sometimes ... ). In this case, though, I remember right after the election all of the "Racist graffiti" that was supposedly written by Trump supporters who were emboldened by Trump's election ... that we later found were staged by people upset at the election result and painted on to try to make it look like Trump supporters who were emboldened by Trump's election. That's the first thing that came to mind due to the timing, the targets, and the fact that it seems to me that they want the devices to be discovered, rather than wanting them to be successful.

I agree. ABC got hold of an X-Ray and it's the most unlikely bomb it is more for stage effect than for exploding - see what you think "The bombs seized on Wednesday, each with a small battery, were about six inches long and packed with powder and broken glass, according to a law enforcement official who viewed X-ray images. The official said the devices were made from PVC pipe and covered with black tape." My experience is limited to Irish attempts. That does not look like a serious attempt.

From this distance, my very first thought was 'stunt' ........... it's now my expert opinion.

Even entry level bomb makers have a better track record than "0 for 10". Sometimes what remains of their own bodies provides the evidence. Or maybe it's just hard to find good help these days. But Art History and Social Justice majors are just not very technically inclined are they? Of course, if they were not intended to explode, then they are batting 10 for 10. Player of the year award?

It would appear that these were dummy bombs made especially to excite dummy journalists in which they succeeded, I note that the tag MAGABomber was invented after the second bomb. I will be very interested in who it was (and that may be a plural who)

"The great Wile E. Coyote, ACME bomb scare of 2018 This attacker, who we'll give the codename of Wile E. Coyote, made his bomb out of... plastic! The devices also had protruding wires coming out of the PVC pipe with a big ridiculous looking digital timer taped to it. Again, this is not typical pipe bomb construction as all of the wires and the detonator are usually concealed inside the pipe.
So in other words, this device was the equivalent of Wile E. Coyote leaving eight overly large sticks of dynamite with a big alarm clock lashed to it with the words ACME bomb stamped on the side. Oh, and a big pile of bird seed next to it to attract the roadrunner." www.glennbeck.com/glenn-beck/the-great-wile-e-coyote-acme-bomb-scare-of-2018?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20181025GBDAILY&utm_term=Glenn%20Beck
