Sadly , here in the UK, it is a tradition that once the summer hol's end, and the kids are back in school , the weather turns fair and settled.
With Irma setting up a date with the PJ in a little over a week I could see some changes to the already Greenland blighted Summer here in the UK?
As the 'cane season is showing it has taken 3 summers for the alterations in Pacific drivers to filter through but we do appear to have a change. Gone are our post 07' SW dominated ,depression after depression summers and , in their stead, we now have a cold lobe fed from upland greenland as our most common summer air mass. We had one part of the UK max out on summer solstice at the same temps of our max winter solstice temp from the last winter!!!
Still, the Sun is strong when you're out...just avoid the shadow.... permanent spring/autumn.
With low Solar we have to expect atlantic blocking and that would cut off the 'feed' from iceland though may expose us to 'The Beast From The East'..... though last year it never had the legs to reach us here in the UK even though those West Siberian snow packs held a lot of cold.
We also have to see how the Pacific side of the Arctic Basin does in refreeze. Too slow and the PV will be off a roamin' again and who knows what Arctic plunges this will facilitate?

GW, do I detect an ever-so-slight slight veering to the sceptics' side? If so, there is counselling available ....

I visited Bramber, West Sussex back in June 2016. Beautiful place and great people! The weather was terrific then, very similar to my side of the pond. Here on Long Island we have had a mostly cool, rainy summer with only about a 2 week hot stretch. It seems like we are beginning a dip into the cooling portion of a cycle here.

Kids heading back this year and I don't recall a hotter end to Summer. My memory may be fading and failing me but it seems we are warmer than past years. GW, I am not a believer and I don't think you're a kook. I tend to be a skeptic of every side and have a question for you, how can you explain all the cold water in the belly which looks like a La Nina on tap? here in the nw it's very cool for this time of year .yeah theres bits of sun when the clouds open but it's been mostly rain for the last few weeks .. can't see it changing but I can see a lot of snow this yr .. like it did in 86

I'm glad to hear that our wonderful summer is being shared to our southwest. Wish it would stay, but I'm afraid we are phasing to a lower energy state. I would love to hear more observations from your neck of the woods. It's been cool in eastern OK since the early part of summer. Have more or less turned off the ac for the year. Also, frequent enough rains that the grass never went dormant, stayed very green all year. Walnut - Ever think about the climate refugee business down there in OK. "Climate got you down! Think OK!"

Well, only since we have regressed back to a boreal climate has it been so comfortable here. generally, we have scorching summers, and often fairly cold windy winters. I was in Northern New Mexico a couple of weeks ago and I really liked that. Around 42 at night and low 70's during the day, in August. That was at about 9000'. Saw falling sleet and a little leftover snow at about 12,000' when I hiked up there. Seems like about 8000' is the sweet spot in that locale.

I lived a 7000 feet in northern Arizona (Flagstaff) for 8 years. You picked the best time of year to go. Flag was generally in the low 80s and low 50s for July and August and it went downhill from there. Really exciting when that winter jet comes ripping across LA, cause you know you're gonna get buried. Normal snowfall was about 7-9 feet with a lot of variance. Last winter I was there, we got 4 feet in 2 days. By winters end the piles were up to the eves and I could no longer toss the snow from the driveway over the berm. On the bright side, you could drive off the rim down into the high desert and rim canyons in less than an hour. Quite scenic. Gardening was also special ... pick ax and dynamite.

Let's see how this pans out! ca.news.yahoo.com/canadas-fall-forecast-storms-drought-way-160050829.htmlReady or not, fall is around the corner, and this year might be a mild one for much of Canada. That’s according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Brett Anderson, who told Yahoo Canada News to expect mild, stormy conditions in the east along with warm and dry weather in the west over the coming months.
