That hot stuff coming off the east coast of the US is an atmospheric-SST coupled phenomenon caused by all the hot air escaping from Washington. Even that will disappear - you can see the 'comma' shape of cold SST because of Jose and all the hot water that they had been talking about in the Caribbean is now gone back to 'normal'.

Good to have you on board, Blue, someone to share the burden of providing the light relief.

Is that also a greenhouse gas? I guess then, in the interest of future generations, we should __________(fill in the blank).

The interesting part of that report is where they say that the SSTs are moving to La Nina but not the atmosphere. What that means I think is that the cloudless weather normally associated with the La Nina is not occurring. If that is true then instead of recharging energy with sunlight it may just be cold and the normal warm water in the East Pacific and up past Japan may also not occur.

Ok....i hadnt heard of the cloudless component before, continuing to learn! It will be interesting to see if the atmosphere will finally hook up with an enso event only when Astromet said there would be an enso event 🤔

Those negative Pacific SST anomalies on Null.school are reaching into the western warm pool. Along western S America, values are between -3 to -4C.
