I hope Sig has an excellent year. .... and buys that RV he's been promising himself. That might have to wait. Had to replace my skid steer today and am 40k lighter in the camper fund. Wife wasn't impressed.

I think Wife and impressed are mutually exclusive Sig.

Had an old Hydromac. 1993.
Went to Bobcat because that is the common one around here.

Gonna have to obtain one myself sometimes in the future I suspect. I went with the S570 as it has enough lifting capacity to handle the 1800# spud bucket when full. An S590 would have been nice, but for the extra money....nope! Both the S570 and S590 use the same frame etc. The main difference is the weight package, and the S590 has 6 more HP. Main thing is, when I am shipping in the spring I need a reliable machine. Tried to rent one, but there was none available to rent and would have increased the repair cost by another $2K. At 6,000+ hrs, the things do wear out and are subject to failure. One way to lose a customer is to not be able to deliver when they want delivery. I have folks hired, they have folks hired and labor costs go up per unit as well. I just have to smile, be happy and put up with a disgruntled wife for awhile.

We have a saying in NZ and I must say it comes in the large part from the XX sector, it runs as such, "Happy wife, happy life".
I have seen no peer reviewed data on this so it lives in the advocacy domain. Not so unsurprising actually.

[ Snip ] I just have to smile, be happy and put up with a disgruntled wife for awhile. Mrs Ratty is gruntled at the moment, after a family gathering yesterday. PS: I've always wanted a Bobcat, have absolutely no use for it but would [really, really] like one anyway.

I remember after the 87 crash a joke which posed the difference between a stockbroker and a pigeon was that the pigeon could put a deposit on a BMW.
Ratty find a pigeon and get the dirty work done and put a deposit on that Bobcat.

It's only money Sigurdur. You can always make more. As for the wife? Dinner, a movie and a night on the town can pay dividends!
Good Luck!

Wheat prices are pushing 6.00. Up quite a bit in the last month. Now is this increase due to disruptions in the planting season caused by weather or due to a stronger worldwide economic conditions and demand? Probably both but the demand has not gone up dramatically so I would put more of the gains on the weather.
We will see...
