Is it a new naming convention to use movie titles as GOM hurricane names?

Accuweather is using "unprecedented" as well, in every sentence they write. Not sure where they get their data from 200 years ago, or 500 or a 1000 or more. In some ways, this is perfect timing for the alarmists, who will flip back and forth between the new IPCC report and Michael and say, "see! We told you so!" And it will be an effective message for them.

Now they are just getting obscene. Sure wish I had a Guardian subscription to cancel. Victims of Hurricane Michael voted for climate denierswww.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2018/oct/11/victims-of-hurricane-michael-voted-for-climate-deniersThey don't even know what ocean they're in. Floridians are staring down a very powerful Category 4 typhoon that is causing extensive damage. The high winds, heavy rains, and storm surge will cost billions of dollars. (OK. That was picky.) Dr John Abraham is a professor of thermal sciences. Is it too late for me to get a degree in "Hot Air"? He has important friends. It’s not that my colleagues haven’t tried to help Governor Scott understand how his policies hurt his state. A few years ago, scientists met with him and urged him to take climate change seriously. He remained silent.
And ... Good luck Florida and Georgia. My thoughts are with you. See you on the other side. (I think they may be going to another place than you are. - cheap shot.)

What's going on ?? I think you will find that the storms in the North Atlantic are what could be called equinoctal gales. These storms are often as strong as hurricanes, or as the 'shipping forecast' would call them 'severe storm force 12'. This time in 1987 there was an infamous case of a BBC weatherman disparaging a viewer's call concerned there was a hurricane on the way to UK. I remember driving to work in Farnborough UK at 7am, zig-zagging through fallen trees that unimpressed army squaddies were dragging off the roads. A friend of mine who was proud of his little Ford XR2 came to work and said he now had two XR1's So I don't think what is being seen is 'unprecedented' it's just that we can see what is happening. Storms such as Leslie would not have really been tracked until recently. www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2018/LESLIE_graphics.php?product=5day_cone_with_line_and_wind
