Old farmer saying in these parts: You're only a week away from a drought anywhere in Missouri. Drought time scales are much longer in Australia.

"Don't Tell Anyone, But We Just Had Two Years Of Record-Breaking Global Cooling
Inconvenient Science: NASA data show that global temperatures dropped sharply over the past two years. Not that you'd know it, since that wasn't deemed news. Does that make NASA a global warming denier?
Writing in Real Clear Markets, Aaron Brown looked at the official NASA global temperature data and noticed something surprising. From February 2016 to February 2018, "global average temperatures dropped by 0.56 degrees Celsius." That, he notes, is the biggest two-year drop in the past century. "The 2016-2018 Big Chill," he writes, "was composed of two Little Chills, the biggest five month drop ever (February to June 2016) and the fourth biggest (February to June 2017). A similar event from February to June 2018 would bring global average temperatures below the 1980s average.""www.investors.com/politics/editorials/climate-change-global-warming-earth-cooling-media-bias/

If they don't explain this properly, this message is going to quickly be lumped in with AGW low quality science, and will be considered fake news alarmism. Pretty sure that's what is going to happen, as the public lacks the attention span to digest "reduced solar wind fostering cosmic ray cloud seeding, which increases albedo" and it's hard to blame them for that. The easier generalization will be that a "weaker sun" is associated with cooling climate on earth is what we will hear about. Faith in science is going to be low this time around.

That came up on my cell phone as well. Along with links to Anonymous warnings. The article is rather poorly written in comparison to many we have seen on this site and the author didn't do much homework. Scientists are warning that a new ice age could be on its way. According to some researchers, activity on the sun has indicated that a phenomenon known as the “solar minimum” has arrived.
Sunspots have been present for 79 days since the beginning of the year, which is 55 percent of the year. The intensity of sunspots is a sign to scientists that the solar minimum is near.
The solar minimum is a period of time where the sun is giving off less heat.

Hey Ratty you could set up the first Brisbane langlauf club! No Naut. I've told you before that I have poor circulation in the extremities .... and arthritis. Actually, it's pretty cool for my area this morning ... wearing tracksuit trousers for the first time this year. 6C predicted for tomorrow morning and the Winter pattern is setting in:

Actually, it snowed at quite low levels just North of Melbourne yesterday.
Blizzards in the mountains, and possibly the best start to a snow season for decades.
Going to be quite bad tomorrow morning. Might even get snow on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Going to be quite bad tomorrow morning. Might even get snow on the outskirts of Melbourne. Thanks Doug. Every year, about this time, I get to tell the story of how, when I was adjutant of Diploma Cadet Squadron, RAAF Frognall, I stood in the upper storey and watched the snow fall in Canterbury Road. Ah, the memories ....
