I'm not going to start a thread about Winter in Australia so .... Big freeze, huge snow falls see ski resorts open early as big freeze sweeps across southeast AustraliaAustralia's Alpine areas have just seen one of their best May snow events in decades with predictions more falls could be looming. The NSW ski resort of Perisher will open its ski fields from Friday after 60cms of snow was recorded in the last three days alone. The resort was not due to open until June 8 but has brought forward its season due to perfect snow-making conditions.

Meanwhile a few thousand miles North of the antipodes .... "MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. โ The Mammoth Mountain resort in Californiaโs Eastern Sierra says it has had its snowiest May on record and skiing and boarding will continue into August.
The resort said Friday the 29 inches (73.6 centimeters) that has fallen so far this month bests the old mark set in May 2015.
Another 6 to 12 inches (15.2 to 30.4 centimeters) of snow is expected to fall on Sunday.
The resort had so much snow during winter that it announced skiing and boarding would continue through the Fourth of July weekend. It now plans to extend the season into August, with no specific end date set.
As of Friday, Mammoth had season accumulations of 715 inches at the summit, and 489 inches at the main lodge."www.tahoedailytribune.com/entertainment/recreation/mammoth-mountain-will-extend-skiing-into-august/Perhaps Astromet's forecasts are starting to bear out?

While perhaps cool for here, today's weather in Zagreb was great ... 60s-70s. A really clean upcoming city that puts some of Western Europe to shame. Friendly, seemingly industrious people. Of course I'm not Serbian. ๐. First impression ... I like the place. I'd like to see it AIRBNB $30-$40 15 minute walk from center. Big music festival this weekend. $ go a long way here. ๐

While folk in the US look forward to Summer, here in Australia, the magic molecule is wreaking havoc: Multiple Antarctic air masses are making a beeline for Australia โ temperatures are set to sink well-below average for the time of year and up to 50cm (19.7 inches) of accumulating snow is expected in the Aussie Alps. Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecaster Sarah Scully warns that a โvery cold air mass is moving from the Antarctic right over the country.โ โTemperatures will be 10C lower than the average, even in the Northern Territory and Queensland. โItโs a cold snap affecting the whole country, itโs a big one. โThe effects will be felt right into the weekend.โThe Big One: Polar Blast

Here in liguria spring seems to have arrived ... 25 C. Today Marta took me on the Cinqueterre Death March. That is four towns with multiple hundreds of feet of elevation change at each one, both ways. I survived. ๐

Itll be because the warm bit is causing the cold bit ๐คทโโ๏ธ [br If that logic prevails and is widely believed then perhaps we deserve what we get ... cause the public is brain dead. War is peace, ignorance is bliss. And warming begets cold.
