In a few hours time it dropped from 85F to 65F here in paradise. Went to work this morning in shorts. Tomorrow it looks like a light coat and a full slicker suit to keep the 30 mph winds and spray off of my old body...

Twenty days south of the equinox and Father Winter is galloping.

I forgot to mention nice wool socks and a beanie! Strange how we went directly from summer to winter with an absence of fall. Fall is next week after we warm up a bit.

Sigurdur, when you get that much snow up there this early does it typically melt before real winter sets in? Or is this the going to be the base? When I worked up there in the oilfield we got everything off the ground around Thanksgiving most years or we might not see it again until April...
I am assuming the flood warnings up there are for melting snowpack and it will melt before the real winter sets in?

There are millions of acres of crops left to be harvested.

[ Snipped MB ] Very cold & wet here today. 15.8°C approaching noon. 13.9°C in Brisbane. Glad I didn't sell my coat. PS: It's my fault: I put the batteries back in the remotes for the ceiling fans last week. LATER (1150hrs): Dropped to 14.5°C !!!!! Minimum outside this morning 8.7°C. Unprecedented.

I think Extinction Rebellion should do one of their protests in Bismark Heck, Bismarck only got a dusting! They should come to NE North Dakota...........say Langdon. ORrrr in front of American Crystal plant in Drayton..............in fact I like that 2nd idea better!! They would surely receive a "warm" welcome.
