As it happens, gravity waves are the primary cause of clean air turbulence. However, how would this explain the flight not being where it was supposed to be?

Interesting the image i found is same location as Blu's.....
What we can see at the surface is part of a 'dome', similar to the percussion wave from an explosion.
So these waves are also propagating vertically to tropopause....
