During the last interglacial, temperatures were thought to be about 2C warmer than now, and sea levels were 6 metres higher. There is evidence of sea level rises of greater than a metre occurring in less than 100 years. Actually during the last interglacial the temperatures were thought to AVERAGE about 2C warmer than now. They actually peaked at about 5C warmer...higher than for proposed CO2 increases. This does relate to summer arctic temperatures. Remember that interglacials occur when the summer insolation at the arctic is higher (and, conversely, tougher winters), whereas current warming is most places, all year round. Does the 1m sea level rise in less than a century not interest you then? Evidence of higher sea levels since the last interglacial?

This bit of prose should hit home with just about everyone:
"Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice." Robert Frost, "Fire and Ice"

It is interesting, Steve, that the Eemian period to which I believe you refer, a warmer period than the present, ended suddenly, like all interglacials studied in sedimentary and ice core studies. Are we not now in the coolest time of the Holocene, save the Younger Dryas, which started and ended, like so many climate changes; possibly in a matter of decades? From what I have read, the likelihood of the Earth entering a period of global glaciation is 100%, and it could happen almost instantaneously.
On the other hand, were the Earth to warm and the sea to rise, my property would go from "ocean view" to "beach front." I would like that.
And remember what Woody Allen said: "Eternity is a very long time, and near the end, it gets longer."

Don't panic, Don't panic! But Captain mannering sir, CO2 levels might rise to 550ppm!
Be quiet jones, you sound like Frazer with your nonsensical drivel. Fill up the tank and lets get some work done.
But Sir, Sir. Shut up pike (Steve) you stupid boy.
Just a bit of fun Steve. For all you non Brits (or young Brits) you will have no idea what I'm talking about.
