Anyone who finds this surprising hasn't been paying attention.

Same since about 1990 in the US Great Plains ... away from the stabilizing ocean. The ole "Great Climate Switcheroo" plainly evident starting about 1976.

A potential point to ponder? The further north one goes, the greater the deviations?

A potential point to ponder? The further north one goes, the greater the deviations? Those polar vortex diversions can have quite an effect. You suppose there is a climate reason why the prairie provence's grain production really soared after the early 1900s? Temps will likely fall away north to south in any replay.

You know, the oil industry is getting really cheap. You'd think they could pay for some decent graphics.

So ... 8760 times ... or 0.01% of the sun. Even less than CO2's portion of the atmosphere. Truely monumental.

People do not appear to have any idea of the scale of nature, and that is the reason for all the hubris of AGW.
Reminds me of the Douglas Adams quote:
“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

If I may restate what Nic says. The aerosol forcing is parameterized and the value is adjusted to get the results the modeller wants from the model (aka thumb on the scales). This is why the 'ensemble' of models have similar results they are using different values for aerosol forcing to 'adjust' their output.

Or someone has realized there is no more research funding in the area - look for the next big wheeze for research.... fusion looks like the next one
