Yes, 'Spanish influenza" killed more people than the guns of war during the same period. Two of them were my grandparents. Indians had even less resistance than whites, and far worse medical care.

The skunk at the Pielke link is even better. But it all seems like a typical long term con. And one with a useful life of 20 years or more, and when it is finally revealed the innocent explanation is "mathematics."
As in "I proved it mathematically, but it will take some more time to prove physically."
