Winter has been pretty much a blah event in our area of Michigan as far as snow goes. The jet stream (storms) steered shy of here. March snowstorms are pretty common, but it is questionable this year. Temperature wise it is about average I'd say without looking it up. What part of Michigan are you in? I have friends in Rapid River UP.

The further north of Saginaw, the more snow, but I didn't travel north this winter to snow mobile.

Here near New Orleans, today was the first pleasant day to be out and about since last November. Everyone was taking advantage of the opportunity to go to the mall, eat out, and so forth. Although the stores cashiers looked lonely as they waited for someone to pay for a small purchase.

I am not sure i would call this spring though, but temp here in trondheim, norway finally reached more normal levels today. We currently have 6c and temp is expected to be around 3-6c for most of next week as well. The sun is also finally getting strong enough to melt some snow during the day even air temp is below freezing.

Still nice and mild here in trondheim, norway. We have not had below freezing temps even during the last nights and now the problem is heavy rain fall and heavy melt causing a bit of flooding here and there. But this sure beats cold in my opinion

Dunno whether it belongs to winter or spring watch, but this morning the whole country (Slovakia) is covered with snow again. Night frost forecast for its warmest south-western part until 20th March. Looks like pretty cold spring start.

That was that mild spell... A large part of the snow melted away but now the rain has turned into heavy snow and they expect we will now get the most heavy snow fall of this winter... It is going to continue for at least week(s).

Absolutely gorgeous weather in our neck of the woods, and that doesn't include snow! Unfortunately in Michigan, when March is unseasonably warm and sunny the first half, it means we'll probably be in for a whopper snowstorm the second half.

60 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico, the first blooms on the flowering trees appeared yesterday. Perhaps ten percent of the lawn is green. And several of the neighbors have had the lawnmowers out, rushing the season.
Looking at the "normal" time for first blooms, it seems the trees are 18 to 21 days later than the forty year median, and the lawn will not need a trim for at least four more weeks. That is also three weeks later than normal.

Spring seems to have arrived in the UK at last (only 4 weeks late!). I can start some gardening at last Piers Corbyn view differs, so dont plant your potatos yet March 2010 – Essential Summary forecast (for Free circulation): “The worst type of March possible for farming & gardening. Generally cold wet windy and often wintry with snow and hail and frosts in places but one brief very warm even hotspell in parts lasting about 5 days. The warm spell will bring forth an amazing burst of bounteous Spring green shoots which will then be largely zapped by a prolonged return to generally cold rather wintry weather in many parts of Britain, Ireland & Europe (with some stark contrasts through regions)” His predicted warm spell was 12-16th +- one day

Hey all, In the North East its flooded, and we had wind gusts upwards of 60mph. NJ is flooded, in NYC a lot of flooding in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Manhattan seems to be safe, and The Bronx is good. past the Bronx though, well, they got crews from North Carolina helping to clean up all the fallen trees(they were down since last friday) and get power back up, but Jersey(parts) going to be flooded till friday, they are saying is the worst since 1985. The temperature is warm though ;D
from 2 days ago, its worse in some places now

Thursday, temperatures will rise up to 16 C (6 C above normal). The warmth will continu well into the weekend, but next week a transition between very warm and very cold air will probably be close to our area. This year, the cold usually wins, due to this crazy weather pattern caused by extreme negative AO, in which we can find large negative anomalies at mid latitudes over the Eastern US, and especially Europe.
