This post is about astronomy, although it may not look like it to start with. Be patient. It is about the "Formula for the Universe" and will explain many things not explicable by present physics and astronomical ideas. But please view it as an addition to existing knowledge, just as statistical mechanics allowed understanding processes that were previously less well understood, so Harmonics theory does the same.
I spent many years studying cycles in all sorts of different things - economics, climate, geology, astronomy and more. My original interest came from a number of different sources including sunspots and share markets. But what got me really interested in cycles was accidentally discovering a bunch of economic cycles while doing some economic modeling by computer in the 1970s. Four very clear cycles were found and the periods of them were related by simple ratios. I then began to look further afield and found that the patter continued in other areas of study.
Later, when I heard of the Foundation for the Study of Cycles, I visited their offices and learned about the work of Edward R Dewey who had made similar discoveries before me. I would refer you to one of his papers which summarizes his work of many decades:
www.cyclesresearchinstitute.org/dewey/case_for_cycles.pdf
"The Case for Cycles" is information that is very little known even today, but is very reliable and essential to anyone who wants to really understand how the Universe works. I request that you read it before commenting on what follows, as I am not really interested in knee-jerk reactions to what I have to say.
To summarize, a few principles found by Dewey and others which I know to be reliable:
1. When time series from many different fields of study are analyzed, they are all found to contain significant cycles provided the data is for a long enough period.
2. There are certain common periods that are found to exist in many different things which most people would expect to be unrelated to each other. The more accurately the periods are determined the more this becomes clear.
3. For each one of these common cycles periods it is found that different variables tend to have the same phase (or sometimes the opposite phase depending on how a variable is measured). Anyway, phases are far from randomly distributed.
4. When the set of commonly observed cycles periods is studied it is found that many are related by simple ratios, most often involving products of 2 and 3, e.g 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 2:3, 3:4, 1:6, 1:8, 1:9 etc etc. Dewey showed this as a table of common cycles periods based on 17.75 years starting point with ratios of 2 and 3 from there. However there are some ratios involving 5 and 7 also for much longer and much shorter cycles.
This is the point that Dewey got to when he died in 1979. He said that he could not find the cause of the pattern. Having been born a bit later than him, I had the advantage of being exposed to non-linear systems and realized that harmonics are easily generated by non-linear systems. If we have y=F(x) and x has a sine wave of frequency f in it and F() is a non-linear function, then y will have frequencies f, 2*f, 3*f, 4*f etc depending on the nature of the function F, but no other frequencies.
So eventually I came to a single axiom which is applicable to the whole Universe once we understand that all the major universal laws are non-linear (electromagnetism, GR, quantum mechanics etc). That axiom is:
From this simple axiom, a unique pattern of energetic waves develops which is found to explain exactly the nature of the common cycles found by Dewey. Furthermore, it predicts a particular pattern of energy in various sized waves which just happens to explain why the universe forms structures at certain scales. The common scales of the Universe are predicted to be near distance ratios of 34560 which gives the sequence:
Hubble scale, galaxies, stars, planets, moons, x, y, z, atoms, nucleons, [quarks?]
There are no obvious structures at scales x and y, but at scale z we have a number of things including cells.

Intelligent questions, comments and criticisms are all welcome. But please read the material first, especially the Dewey article. That is the reason that the theory was developed. It was only an accident that it happened to also explain the structure of the Universe.
