"I don't think that qualifies as a literal translation" not literal in that I substituted modern units- bit like translating sheep as pig for Papua New Guinea Bibles, but it was a "word for word" translation!
There were no vowels in aramaic, so it was ambiguous. (Puns & double meanings were more common)
MINA: 60 Shekels: Also verb for "Numbered" = examined closely TEKEL: Shekel: Also verb for "weighed" = or judged PERES: Half Shekel. Also verb for "divided" = kingdom divided - think pieces of 8 where the gold piece was grooved to allow easy division.
We don't think in terms of real money anymore, we've been using paper too long!
Imagine if a hand wrote "$60, $1, 50cents" on the wall - You'd need a prophet to explain it!

Isn't Jim cute. Now he wants to be Robin Hood. Steal from the rich and give to the poor. Of course he will reserve the right to determine who is poor and who is rich. The redistribution of wealth is getting extremely popular these days. The redistribution being the important aspect of aqw, not the science. No doubt like in the Soviet Union, there will come a time where some just can't share in anything...wonder what kind of gulag Jim will reccommend to take care of the real problem for him, which is just too many people on this planet.

"Minnie, Minnie, tickle my upper shin." Haha! It's a long story but one day about 20 years ago I asked my (now gone ) mother if she knew what were the words of the "handwriting on the wall" and she said: "Many many tickle a parson"She definitely knew they weren't the real words, but I no longer recall if she knew the real words. Hi Mom! Well, she just got another laugh out of me.

We could hope Hansen will resign and acknowledge his fraud We could hope that Gore would likewise acknowledge the fraud and pay back the billions

We could hope Hansen will resign and acknowledge his fraud We could hope that Gore would likewise acknowledge the fraud and pay back the billions I believe there's no statute of limitations on recovery of damages resulting from fraud.

Another reason to ignore Joseph D’Aleo as either ill informed or deliberately fraudulent.
To present an argument that the lower troposphere being 14th warmest and the surface being 10th warmest "doesn't jive" is either stupidity or deception.

To present an argument that the lower troposphere being 14th warmest and the surface being 10th warmest "doesn't jive" is either stupidity or deception. Well, Socold, we don't have to look very far for stupidity or deception. D'Aleo said "14th coldest" against "tenth warmest." Just who is "ill informed" here? No need to explore further. And the word is "jibe," not "jive."
