New sunspot, AR11414 must be the first sunspot at the equator on the solar disc this cycle? Am I correct? Could we See a solar max romping up even if the southern hemisphere does not pick up pace, can it all start up at the equator at once?

It looks like we might get a spotless day, allready in Feb this year.
Strange, since we are supposed to reach solar max, this year or the next.

Not strange, spotless days can happen at solar max during weak cycles. 11414 is very close to the equator, but there already have been a few groups from the northern hemisphere that were close to the equator. Northern hemisphere groups are on average 5° closer to the equator.

If SC24 would be similar to SC14, wouldn't those "spikes" already have been visible in the polar fields strength? Do the polar fields show (more or less) what is coming?
