[ Snip ] "Out damn'd spot! Out, I say." Lady Macbeth and her telescope foretelling the advent of the Little Ice Age. That's much nicer than Cornwall's "Lest it see more, prevent it. Out, vile jelly! Where is thy lustre now?" Could Gloucester have been a climate sceptic way back then. Like generals and 'spots'? Old sceptics never die. They just fade away into the logs of observatory records and the 'blogs' of interpretation. But I seriously digress.

All the wiggle watchers and pattern matchers are telling us about the cycles they claim exist in the Sun - none seem to accept that we only actually know the Sun's activity in any real detail for a very short period - even if you include the Chinese monks recording Sun spots. It just might do something different. We were all being assured that SC24 would be a monster, it wasn't. Now the same forecasters are trying to tell us what will happen based on more wiggle watching. It is like watching the tide come in and detailing each wave and forecasting the next one. But with no comprehension of the tide going out as that is not in your past patterns.

Yes, I am a Pattern Matcher, but I resent the implication that I am a Wiggle Watcher. Anyway, I think I sense a slight.

relax there is a bit of wiggle watching in all of us.
Who knows when they turn from wiggle to tide and 5 days in the present part of the solar cycle deserves a comment.

For the record I was just being silly. But yes, I am watching and waiting, I admit it. Could be worse, at least not asking to close down power plants based on tree ring counts.

Pretty sizable spot rotating around now, remember it from last pass, LIA will have to be rescheduled for July apparently.
