I have been saying this to myself quite a bit lately, ultimately we get what we deserve. But, we know it's not exactly true, is it? If that is a philosophical question, then I suppose we could tinker with it a bit around the edges to make ourselves feel better. But if we don't do it, who will? And thus, as we sit there, the answer becomes ... "It is". Pass the popcorn?

Unfortunately Austin, Texas is being overrun by liberal refugees fleeing from California, Oregon and Washington. Cashing out on their artificially inflated home prices and seeking value in Texas hill country real estate. Leaving behind years of liberal policy, high taxation and over regulation in a quest for a new life. Sadly they are bringing their liberal political beliefs with them and Austin is turning into a mini Seattle. Not much different than the Syrian refugees fleeing a war torn nation for the peace and economic prosperity of Europe but bringing the same Islamic customs that destroyed their own land and sent them packing in the first place.

Tulsa was overrun by a rino mayor and benefactor, and so now we also have hordes of homeless population, I guess because the mayor had seen how cool Seattle and Austin look and wanted to bring some of that home to Tulsa. The zombies front lines are now fairly close to my neighborhood.
It just seems like an epidemic of slothfulness. Trying to keep fair minded and compassionate to a point. That point is about 15th Street and Utica Avenue. If they get any closer than that I'll probably move.

I heard it was getting bad in Austin but I never thought I would see this in Texas. With the economic downturn caused by Covid and the cratering market for crude you would think public officials would not tolerate this. It's got to be destroying home values and the state and local budgets have to be hemorrhaging cash.

Many of the local liberal homeowners still denying that these people are at all responsible for their own conditions, even as the hordes are overtaking their neighborhoods. It's incredible.

With the economic downturn caused by Covid and the cratering market for crude you would think public officials would not tolerate this. It's got to be destroying home values and the state and local budgets have to be hemorrhaging cash. Solution 1. Use closed military bases to house these people. 2. Serious monitoring efforts 3. Drug rehab 4. In return for the housing and 3 square meals, the residents would be required to pick up roadsides etc. 5. If they can't abide by rules, one way ticket to Malibu, California.

Sigurdur, That is the best solution I have ever read to the growing homeless/drug/mentally ill problem

A 6000 page bill? Do you think that they are using some fractal algorithm based software to produce those repeating patterns of nonsense? Surely humans could not have written that in that period.
Vetoing their bill is not nearly enough. They should face corporal punishment for that insult. Giving our money away to foreigners is not a role of government.

It didn't work out well in the long run.
