What the 'common joe' on the streets wants to know is, how is it that the earth's cycles of natural variability 'are not well understood' ... 'when the science is settled!

Missed this ... but ... times must be tough if the Prince of Wales is moonlighting as a weatherman!

A Radio 4 programme that claimed that the Met Office had exaggerated the threat posed by global warming as part of its “political lobbying” has been found guilty of serious breaches of the BBC’s editorial guidelines.
The BBC Trust said that What’s the Point of the Met Office?, broadcast on August 5 and hosted by the journalist Quentin Letts, had “failed to make clear that the Met Office’s underlying views on climate change science were supported by the majority of scientists”.
Criticising the corporation of a “serious breach of the editorial guidelines for impartiality and accuracy”, the broadcaster’s governing body said “audiences were not given sufficient information about prevailing scientific opinion to allow them to assess the position of the Met Office and the Met Office position on these criticisms was not adequately included in the programme”.
Ha ha ha,.......ha ha.....ha ha ha...lol, sorry 'scuse me a minute...............HA ha ha ha ha ha

The way the Brits are anymore, I wouldn't count on it. Guess I don't know what to think. Canada has gone off the deep end now as well. Talked with a friend from Canada over the weekend from Ontario and they are beside themselves. Energy costs are going through the roof, and they don't have the money to heat their home at current and projected cost increases.
He wasn't a happy camper.

He and his neighbors might ought to send a message to Parliament. There is a rumor going around that there is a lot of ''Dead Wood'' in Ottawa. Last I checked, Canadians own a lot of chain saws ... and they know how to use them.

They should just collaborate with weather underground?? Anyway, couldn't they just created a multitude of 'ghost' sites between existing ones and homogenise the result....like....duh???

Who is going to own the raw data? What if the amateurs produce "surprising" results? What happens if the weather/climate proves not to be worse that we thought? Will adjustments, homogenisation, manipulation of data have to be a collaborative effort? Do we need a committee for oversight, maybe a new section in the Department of Environment?
The possibilities are endless .........

This cannot possibly be right - the climate records are homogenized using observations from up to 1200km away. You only need perhaps 4 observation stations in the UK and the rest can be 'modeled'. Or are the Met Office at odds with the NASA/NOAA approach?
