THE 'BLUE BLOB' HAS SWALLOWED 'THE COUSINS'. Interesting exercise ... bring up Earth.NullSchool earth.nullschool.net/#current/ocean/surface/currents/overlay=sea_surface_temp_anomaly/orthographic=-40.63,57.97,1024 Left click on earth at bottom left - click on Mode = Ocean, click on Animate = Currents, click on Overlay = SSTA. Note there appears to be little warm water left around England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Baltic has gone negative. Zoom into Iceland and notice the thin, 'warm' stream between it and Greenland. The currents are headed southwest ... and has the visual feel of a stream draining the declining warm pool in the North. May be illusion ... some of it is the westward, then southern diversion of waters from the eastern arm of the NAD ... but? ? It certainly seems that the NAD has diverted toward the Iberian peninsula rather than up toward UK and Iceland. That could have all sorts of interesting impacts on weather in North West Europe. It certainly does not look like 'business as usual'.

If the sea is just 2C lower than normal it can decimate the summer.

it'd not good for the fishing either .. still catching the odd cod in june ..wtf ? and the bass are no where in sight .. in the nw . wales has just started seeing them so 4 weeks late .. other than that temps on the coast are up and down . cloudy then were at 10-13 deg c clear skys we get to 16 .. add to that an almost constant easterly wind and you can def see a change ..

weather.unisys.com/surface/sst_anom.gifThe North Atlantic Drift now seems to be petering out mid-Atlantic. Petawatts of heat are now going missing in the Arctic. Should make for an interesting ice recovery next Northern Hemisphere winter. Meanwhile, there will be snow on the hills to the East of Melbourne tomorrow, above 900 meters. They had widespread snowfall in NZ last week. Meanwhile here in Northern hemisphere we are having freezing temps in SUMMER at SEA LEVEL... ;\ Surely nothing unusual is going on at all... So much for the predictions of climate here in Scandinavia becoming like southern europe/mediterranean by 2050-70... So much for winters and snow being a thing of the past. Now they are going to act like the cooling was predicted and all a result of global warming and ice melting...

Headline in WUWT: "Norwegian observations confirms: The Gulf Stream has been stable over the past 20 years Anthony Watts / 1 day ago May 23, 2015 One the more alarming claims about global warming is that is will cause a change in ocean currents, such as the Gulf Stream." I don't understand why, if the above is true, there is such an enormous NEGATIVE temperature anomaly over the North Atlantic. weather.unisys.com/surface/sst_anom.gifThey are saying it is not the gulf stream anyways that is flowing through here, even though that is what they have been telling us for years.. And whatever stream is reaching our coast is not weakened according to them.. www.nrk.no/viten/derfor-kranglar-forskarane-om-golfstraumen-1.12373608They then go into explaining that observations about the weakening gulf stream might very well be the case, but that the different stream reaching our coast has not weakened according to their observations.. Personally I really dunno what to believe these days.. Something definitely has changed significantly when it comes to our climate ever since that solar minimum kicked in.

I heard some time back that your climate would eventually be like our Alice Springs.

I heard some time back that your climate would eventually be like our Alice Springs. I would take that over the current climate we have here any day At least then we would get a hot summer day now and then instead of the 8-13c we have had so far this summer with absolutey max being in may with 15c... Only a couple of more weeks and the crop season will be completely ruined and according to forecasts there is no end in sight..

Space and Science Research CorporationPress Release 1-2013Climate Change to Next Cold Era Accelerates with Colder North Atlantic This two-year old report may have pegged what we're seeing in the North Atlantic. www.spaceandscience.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/ssrcpressrelease12013climatechangetonextcolderaaccelerateswithcoldernorthatlantic.pdf"Significant Loss of Heat Content in the Atlantic Ocean. Review of data shows that for the past six years, since 2007, the heat content loss in the upper 700 meters of the north Atlantic AMO zone has been the most ever recorded since satellite monitoring began... The drop in heat content (upper 700 m) reached the Faroe Islands during the summer of 2011. From there it is propagating north towards the European sector of the Arctic. Based on previous empirical evidence, I would myself expect the onset of oceanic heat decrease to reach the Barents Sea and Svalbard mid or late 2013, with derived effects for regional air temperatures shortly after.” Press Release 3-2015Earthquake and Volcano Threat for USA Increases www.spaceandscience.net/id16.html

Redid above animation day by day, moved orientation to reveal some of what happens in pacific re:El Nino. Went back to Aug 17th 2014 where current 'blue blob' seems to first originate. Really wanted to see how this phenomena developed and to see if any specific movements of water could be seen.

did you go back as far as 2011-12?? as that's the time the antartic ice mass really started to grow .. give it a lag time of a yr or so .. the bigger it gets the more it melts the cooler we get .. next yr your going to see the same thing in the pacific ...

As a reference to historic North Atlantic ssta, this post on you tube by Bob Tisdale shows 1996 - 2009. Blue blobs do occur, to the same extent as currently however?? not sure. This video was bought up by the search 'ssta north atlantic' as is the next video, which is world however, but again maybe useful in seeing if our current coolness is exceptional or not.
