You have to look long and hard to see this new "sunspot." It's like the last one they numbered. It never really appeared, and was gone in 24 hours. Let's see if this one actually becomes visible without the telescopic view they put on Space Weather.com

Cold? That's not cold. That's just miserable. Take away the NAD ... and that could be something that not even Guinness nor scotch could fix. Hence the out-migration to America? Guns, Germs, Steel and COLD.

I think I'll find me a nice high desert oasis about 4000-5000 feet elevation along the south facing edge of the Mogollon Rim of Arizona. Nice little beaches in the canyons and there is always water seeping out of the sandstones. In the winter you only get buried when it rains hard in southern California. It's a dry cold and that south facing slope warms you up quickly. Kinda like southern Spain without the ocean and the Spaniards.

Look at the green dashed line. That is a good example of "science" at work in many government agencies. 1. Wait till the last minute. 2. Make a forecast that is the same as the last period. 3. Claim it fell within your error bars when something else happens.

Happy New year from northern Scotland to all on the best site on the net. I may not contribute much but I've learnt an awful lot.

Piers Corbyn calls the authors of the paper professional liars --- he always was a little too tactful...
