Apparently a new instrument deployed on the caldera has demonstrated the inaccuracy in the recorded depth of quakes up to this point,
The suggestion is activity is much closer to the surface then previously realised....The projected possible consequences of this are being assessed.

Acidohm, where did you find that comment about a new instrument? Even without its help, there seems to be a lot of quite large earthquakes very close to the surface. baering.github.io/Looking at the "caldera drop" section, subjectively it appears to me that the rate of decline has increased sharply, but I can't get a longer time sequence. Caldera collapse?

www.jonfr.com/volcano/This is the source, Jon mentions it in the Monday update, however the information originally appeared in the Friday update comments with a link to an icelandic website (IMO?) The caldera gps antenna has probably got buried in the recent snow storm or batteries have run out..... Re: comments....23/11 13:54 for relevant information.

An update if anyone is interested..
Caldera subsidence 59m but slowed in rate, fissure opening north but cooling in South. ..Indeed, fissure is now a 100m high, 500m long lava lake. Something like 84km2 of lava field so largest for about 250 years.
The kicker is after a steady drop in activity, bardarbunga is having a fit today with numerous mag 4 eruptions, volcanologists are thinking magma is on the move.....

Ok......I don't know much....... According to AGW theory, H2O vapor in the Stratosphere should decrease. It hasn't, in fact it has increased. The above paper demonstrates that Solar....yes the sun....has an influence on how much H2O vapor is in the Strat. The paper finds slowly increasing levels of H2O vapor. This affects the energy balance, because as we all know, H2O trumps CO2 as a greenhouse gas every day of the week, and the few extra days that a year has now and then. So...even though this has been measured......it can't be happening. The measurements must be wrong. Right? ?
