I bought my wife a Nikon 5300 for her birthday. It takes great photos. I own an old Pentax Spptmatic II. Know how to use that inside out and upside down. I am looking forward to learning how to operate the 5300.

Wow...that looks like a nice camera, lucky wife!! If your used to manual/priority settings it'll be a breeze....the biggest improvement will be huge ISO at will, really good metering and instant pics! Hope you both enjoy it!

She already does as she has 1,000's of pics of the Grand kids. I enjoy seeing those, but I am more into certain modes of photography. Capturing the "impossible" perhaps? Later February, I am going to take the time to learn everything I can find out about that camera. And then.....I am going to have a lot of fun.....
