Looking at the difference between the cyclone activity in the Atlantic and the Pacific right now (since the Pacific affects me pretty regularly) Only one active in the Atlantic right now. 6 are active in the Pacific area at the time I post this. The one that affected us heavily yesterday was Chan-Hom. The eye made landfall this morning in North Korea and it has been downgraded to a tropical depression. It took a route up the Yellow Sea, but we felt it's effects pretty strongly on the Southeastern tip of Korea as I wrote above. It's still pretty windy today as it usually is the day after one passes. The next one for us is Nangka which, the last time I saw on our local news, still had Busan dead center of its "70% probability" projection. But it's path puts it needing to cross the southern Japanese islands around Hiroshima and Fukuoku. It's currently a Cat 3 Typhoon, but my guess is that it will lose steam coming that route - that's what I've seen before. If it gains any more strength, and doesn't change course or weaken coming that route, I may not be in my condo when it comes through - I'll have to see what is recommended as it gets closer. It's moving very slowly so, unless it picks up, it's probably going to be at least this coming weekend before it gets here. But really, my point in posting was just to point out the difference in cyclone levels between the Atlantic and Pacific right now.

I guess Arizona has a vested interest in predicting Atlantic hurricanes after Pacific hurricane Norbert.

They're changing the projected path for Nangka, now. As late as yesterday, they still showed Busan dead center of the projected path. But now, they're changing the path more eastward as it goes. It's still supposed to hit Japan close to the original projection, but then, it's supposed to take a right turn and head up that controversially named Sea between Japan and Korea staying closer to the Japan side. If it does that, we won't take the direct hit in Busan, but since the path is still changing, I'm not sure where it will actually wind up going.

I found article worth reading, on solar dynamos. Great discussion, more in depth then i'd seen elsewhere.

So I just took a look at the temperatures for last 30 days in northern Norway and divergence from normal is just mind blowing: I have never ever seen such a huge divergance from the normal. The average temps have even been on a decline sine june as if wall arrived there already.
