The real problem is that there are innumerate non STEM politicians that (1) really believe it - after all it was on the weather channel and (2) think that by cancelling red meat they can get the Earth back on its original axis I expect there will be a retraction ....

And a loud sucking sound and moaning

Well, yeah. But their underlying theories are still a load of crap.

Their last words carry the day. The time for wishful thinking is over. Indeed they are. And the time for successful falsification of that null hypothesis is long past due. Just as the null for God CANNOT be falsified, even by philosophers who are famous for their convoluted logic, the null for catastrophic anthropogenic CO2 warming WILL NOT be falsified because the faithful minions of this new God will not submit its component parts to the test. Better they seed the atmosphere with solar-radiation-reflecting particles in the teeth of a new cold period, than admit to any possibility that they might be wrong. Pogo was correct. We have met the enemy, and he is us. The patient, who may NOT have cancer, is going to get radiation none the less.

Ya suppose they'll take it to heart? Not much patience or ethics in these sods.

As someone who (currently) lives in the path of Atlantic hurricanes - while I understand what the maths says Andrew was a lot more expensive than Wilma or Matthew both of which had low central pressures but spread over a far larger area than Andrew which was a small tight hurricane So I am not sure I agree that MSLP is the best metric (it is easier to measure though so I can see the attraction)

As Lorentz pointed out in his first discussions of Chaos, while what is being said is true it is almost certainly unachievable in practice any meaningful time into the future due to the minor inaccuracies that are then multiplied up millions of times leading to chaotic results. So this is along the lines of Archimedes' "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." Undoubtedly true - just not achievable.

If you want to see chaos, cut off people's fossil fuel heat in the middle of a cold winter. There won't be a tree standing for miles around.
