Does anyone have the capability of turning audio on a standard cassette tape into a digital file that could be emailed? I have some audio from a shortwave radio station (see the thread "Unusual Station on 8605.0 kHz" on the Ham Radio board here) that I'd like to be able to send via computer, but I'm not equipped to do the conversion myself. It would involve something on the order of 5 to 10 minutes of audio, recorded in mono, turned into a .wav or similar format digital file of a few MB in size. I can mail a tape and a few $ for your time if anyone is interested and able. Please let me know and I'll set up the contact info. Thanks!

Simplest way is to download Audacity & the Lame MP3 encoderThe process is to run your cassette via headphone socket (or line out if you have it) into the Line In on your sound card. Use Audacity to record from the Line In then to convert it over to MP3. Note if quality is an issue, save the Audacity file out as a WAV file then download & run a FLAC converter on it - FLAC does lossless compression. PM me if you need more info than this - but the Audacity software is pretty straight forward & has a LOT of options for filters, enhancements and modifications to the sounds.
