Damn shame. I spent a few days in Airlie back in 2000. Loved it and the Whitsundays. Hope the big schooner we stayed on made it. I guess there's always a light in the darkness ... if your boat wasn't there, there will be a lot of cheap spare parts ... if it was then you're part of the sale.

This is a schooner too ..... ==SNIP==
Report online today providing a real Australian summing up... "Tom Humphries, a tourist, said he couldn’t wait to get away. “There was loads of wind, trees falling down and windows blown out in the next room and we’ve got no food left. It’s a bit of a nightmare. We’re getting cabin fever. It seems we’re stuck here for a few days at least. “I’m sure it’s a beautiful place but for now I’m completely over it.” He then gave his scientific opinion "It’s f***ed,” he said

This is a schooner too .....
The schooner had schooners as well ... of the unbreakable variety. Perhaps the inspiration for 'four sheets to the wind'.

There is nothing soft about Aussie beer: It's like our spiders ...... potent. Hic! Like 1960s nostalgia then. I just found this after many years searching ... the 'longest' (timewise) radio hit of 1969 ... the Legend of the Titanic (and 497 and 1/2 feet of rope). You won't see this on any snowflake website. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XFYMjkFYPg

We've had more than eight inches (> 200mm) in the last 24 hours. Expected to get worse this afternoon .... The usual talk-back callers saying they have never seen it like this in their < insert_number_here> years....... Unprecedented!

We are in the midst of a significant weather event in SE Queensland; the bolds below are for my immediate area. LINK: Queensland Warnings Summary Warnings current: Severe Weather Warning 1 (QLD), (ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES and DANGEROUS SURF) Severe Weather Warning 2 (QLD), (DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL) Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland (QLD), Marine Wind Warning Summary for Queensland, Minor Flood Warning for the Lower Burdekin River, Minor Flood Warning for the Don River and Flood Warning for the Proserpine River, Final Flood Warning for the Pioneer River, Moderate to Major Flood Warning for the Connors, Isaac, Mackenzie and Fitzroy Rivers, Moderate Flood Warning for the Burnett River, Major Flood Warning for the Kolan River and Baffle Creek, and Flood Warning for the Boyne and Calliope Rivers, Moderate Flood Warning for the Burrum and Cherwell Rivers, Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Upper Brisbane River, Moderate Flood Warning for the Bremer River and Lockyer, Laidley and Warrill Creeks, Major Flood Warning for the Logan and Albert Rivers, Initial Minor Flood Warning for Bungil Creek, Flood Warning Summary for Queensland, Flood Watch for Queensland. We've already had about ten inches (250mm) in the last 28 hours and tonight's delivery is expected to be substantial. Media is saying there could be another 400mm in the next twelve hours. Every place that floods is flooded now ...... if the forecast is correct, tomorrow morning may be Chinese "interesting". Severe storm, flooding, warnings for schools and businesses“Those areas likely to see in excess of 400ml are likely to be in the Gold Coast hinterland (moi & Mrs Ratty) the Sunshine Coast hinterland,” he said. All schools in a 700 kilometer stretch of the coast were closed today and will be closed tomorrow. Should I suddenly go quiet, you will understand. (We're not in danger of flooding ..... I think. Wind is another matter.). Repeating this photo here:

Stop worrying ..... Your warnings didn't include 'land sharks'. Stay dry ... and, if not dry, then stay safe.
