Age does result in being a bit cantankerous at times. Too much exposure to snake oil will do that. How's the foot? Better? As good as it is going to get. Some days really good, other days a bit troublesome. Part of life.

Me too! Just square blobs. I've been using Dropbox references which changed a month or so ago. Naturally, I can see them because I have permission. Will look into it ..... Looks like you dropped the ball Ratty. All I see are squares as well.

[ Snip ] Looks like you dropped the ball Ratty. All I see are squares as well. If it was a ball, you would see circles. In the words of a famous software company, Working on it ....

I've given up for the moment trying to make my images visible. First time I've ever failed at anything.

I've given up for the moment trying to make my images visible. First time I've ever failed at anything. 1) Well first rule is you have to have "your" images available on some web service like photobucket or Flikr. You can set up a free account at either place and a few others. 2) After uploading your images to that webservice you need to obtain the link to the picture you want to display in this forum. That usually is well explained by the web service you use. Photoshop is about the easiest to use and its what I use. 3) After you get that URL you simply paste it into a post, highlight the URL with your mouse, and then click the little picture icon in the icon bar above in the post editor and then left click the "insert image" button. That will paste in the needed codes around the url to display the picture. All you will see are the codes. If you want to see the picture hit "preview" below and it will show how the post will appear once posted. Although some times that preview is quirky and still will not display the picture but even then the picture usually displays when you hit the "create post" button. If you are using a picture already on the web you need to get the "image" address. I use chrome and all you have to do is right click the picture and select "copy image address" and do step 3 above. A common mistake is to get the "page address" that the "image" is on instead of the "image address". One way to spot that is the URL of a picture will usually end with an image extension like .jpg, .gif or some other three letter image file extension. Pages usually do not end with an extension (a period followed by 3 letters) If you have any trouble because of a different browser than chrome I use Windows explorer and Firefox also and can help with those.

Thanks, Ice. That's exactly what i have been doing (for years?) with DropBox links. They recently changed their processes ...... sigh. Help! says what I'm doing should work .... will need to investigate further ... another sigh!

I probably should have looked back at your problem. It appears you are using dropbox and some kind of hyperlink. I think you need some kind of link to the file that ends in an image extension. There is one in your link but its not at the end. You might look back at your drop box links that still work if there are any.

But when I reply to it, 'this' is what I get ... no picture and not your reply. AND now that I've replied, yours is different. No snake.

I realised that I had posted a link to a "normal" website and scrubbed the post. What I did find is this old Dropbox link (braces changed) that now displays nothing, not even an error: {img style="max-width:100%;" src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20066975/Emoticons/BabySad.jpg" alt=" "}

Thanks again Ice. It's possible DropBox links will not work here on this forum any more. Google Dive links don't seem to either ...... I'm going to take it up with them DropBox. Their help page doesn't quite match what I'm seeing so I'm going to uninstall the local client, re-install and see what happens then. FWIW, I have inserted two image attempts below, one with the DropBox link and the other with a Google Drive link; I suspect they won't be visible.
