"Evan McMullin, the "Republican" pretending to be a patriotic opponent of Trump, is being funded by the same Persian billionaire who's backing The Intercept, Glenn Greenwald and the Iran Firsters.
McMullin’s recently founded non-profit organization, Stand Up Republic, jumped into the Alabama Senate race this week with a $500,000 ad buy against Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. One of the ads features a man saying Roy Moore “makes Republicans and us Christians look bad.”
The massive ad buy “may end up being one of the largest third-party interventions in the state,” according to the Washington Post.
One of McMullin’s large Silicon Valley donors is billionaire eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, who funded an anti-Trump super PAC during the presidential campaign.
Omidyar announced a $250,000 donation to Stand Up Republic in May through his organization, Democracy Fund. (Democracy Fund publicizes all its grants in the interest of transparency.) Better to elect Jones for a few years rather than Moore.

Had Mueller remained in retirement and not been tempted out by Rosenstein to be a 'special counsell' he could have kept a (mostly faked **) legacy of a safe pair of hands head of the FBI. Now it appears he is trashing that legacy to assist his Democrat colleagues. History will record Mueller as a Democrat partisan hack, willing to work around the Constitution in an attempt to protect the Obama administration and its political placemen in Law Enforcement and Intelligence agencies from what appears to be becoming a scandal that will dwarf Watergate and could even end in charges of Espionage, sedition and Treason. It would not be at all surprising to see members of Mueller's team be arrested before spring, and members of the so called 'shadow government' running for the hills. www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/12/17/gregg-jarrett-muellers-allegedly-lawless-acts-have-corrupted-his-probe-and-demand-his-removal.html ** Mueller had all references to, and all intelligence information on, Islamc Terrorism, Jihadists and all information on the different sects of Islam and their mores, removed from FBI training manuals and all intelligence archives. One should ask _why_ that was seen as a priority.

One should ask _why_ that was seen as a priority. If history is written by the victors, we will have to see how this all turns out. I believe it stinks to high heaven and always will, but no one in the swamp cares what I think. The preservation of the US Constitution is maintained by “the honor system”...it’s in big trouble.

"I appreciate that all the above is easier to do in the remnants of empire than it is in the American system. But there isn't even the figleaf of "independence" when you appoint a career swamp-dweller like Robert Mueller, a man who has relationships with every player in Washington going back decades. The parade of hacks infesting the cable shows to inform us solemnly that they've known Mueller for years and he's the very apotheosis of a straight shooter is, in fact, the strongest evidence of why he should never have been appointed: he's the insiders' insider. When Mueller decided to stage his pre-dawn swoop on Paul Manafort's bedroom, for example, he was raiding the home of a longtime client of his own law firm, WilmerHale."www.steynonline.com/8327/the-co-dependents-of-the-independent-counsel

"Mr. Steele wrote 35 pages of memos in which he said Trump aides were part of a vast conspiracy with Moscow to interfere in the election against Hillary Clinton. The unverified charges were spread by Fusion GPS, the Washington-based political research firm that first commissioned the report. Mr. Steele bragged to Mother Jones magazine that he started the Mueller investigation by convincing FBI agents that summer about the credibility of his dossier.
It was later revealed that the campaign of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton helped fund the dossier, meaning that in essence her paid agent was spreading unsubstantiated charges to get to the FBI to investigate her opponent, critics say"www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/dec/20/christopher-steele-hedges-russia-dossier-claims-ag/

Editorial from yesterday's Australian: Time to drain the UN swampThe Australian 12:00AM December 28, 2017The speed with which Donald Trump has cut back significantly on Washington’s vital contribution to the UN’s budget should surprise no one, least of all the world body’s bloated and inefficient bureaucracy. Last week’s emergency session of the General Assembly, which voted 128-9 to condemn the US President for his recognition of the incontrovertible reality that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, was always going to be a watershed. Just as Mr Trump promised, he has sliced $370 million off the $1.5 billion Washington provides each year as the biggest contributor to the UN’s budget — 22 per cent of its total of $6.7bn. With many UN member states perpetually in arrears with their dues (but always present when there is an opportunity to vote against the US or Israel), the world body relies heavily on the US to remain afloat. Officials say the cut will “devastate” operations.
So be it: the absurd and illogical bias of UN members in constantly trying to use the world body to denounce Israel — the Middle East’s only functioning democracy and a place where people of all faiths enjoy religious freedom — has met its match in Mr Trump. He has rightly said “no more”. US allies and all countries that favour common sense should consider his lead. As Mr Trump says, the time has come to hit back: “Let them vote against us. We don’t care. But this isn’t like it used to be where they could vote against you and then you pay them hundreds of millions of dollars. We are not going to be taken advantage of any longer.”
Beyond the main UN budget, Mr Trump is also looking to slice a large chunk off the 28.5 per cent the US contributes to the $8.7bn the UN spends each year on so-called peacekeeping. This follows his pullout from UNESCO, the major UN agency that, under its former Bulgarian communist head, let the Palestinian Authority join as a member state, which it clearly is not. UNESCO epitomises much that is wrong with the UN. It appointed Syria to its human rights committee and declared Jews have no connection with Temple Mount, the holiest place in Judaism. Mr Trump’s cuts have sent a powerful message.

Maybe it's not a bad thing to get those reactions? Perhaps a few of those reading the responses will start to question the sanity of "warming = cold"?
